It's interesting to think about it, but in my live I have kind of 'gone rogue' in the classic MMORPG sense...

I don't go gallivanting out into the world like a brash knight in shining armor, pushing forward like a madman through the fire and flames to slay dragons and impress the maidens in hopes of winning them over. Instead I move stealthily around the flanks, sliding between the shadows and maintaining a low profile, unseen, unknown, until I reach the treasure... I take what I will, which in spite of my greed is only a moderate amount so I don't weight myself down, and rapidly depart.

I've always preferred to not be in the midst of the struggle, and I avoid confrontation as much as possible, but strike hard if I am forced to, just like a rogue class character. Glory and fame hold little appeal, but 'stealth wealth' resonates nicely with me, so instead of spending fortunes on finery and having a lighter coin purse I'd much rather have decent things and a fat sack of gold hidden away in a secure location...

The idea that a wife and children would ever be compatible with this mindset is ridiculous. Several have tried to have me "fill in the blank space in their master marriage/baby plans" but none succeeded - The Rogue in me was too powerful. In truth none of them really had anything to offer but some unenthusiastic 'duty booty' sex and a spiritual yoke to place upon me, the proposed workhorse for their ambitions. Why would a proper Rogue go for that kind of deal? No, indeed I didn't and, after some roguish tricks and in due course, they left me in search of easier prey... I slinked away from those traps and did precisely what I wanted to do. I simply cannot bring myself to march a princess through the castle gates to her Happily Ever After... I tread a different path than that.

There is no castle for me. There's no suit of armor, or enchanted sword, no valiant charger either. I have a lot less than that, and a lot more time to think, air to breathe, room to move, and action points. There's no heir to my kingdom, and that's all right. I can make whatever moves I want to make without ever having to 'consult the committee' or compromise on key points. I can do almost anything, given the mindset and determination to do it, but there's so little out there that's really worthwhile to do.

It's actually quite nice here in the shadows. I can see the pomp and circumstance going on in the valley below me and be content in knowing that I don't have to be part of that ridiculous mess
