After many years, I've been watching Breaking Bad again lately and I've been struck by how damaging Skyler is to her husband Walt. Walt in himself is no saint either, but Skyler acts very selfish throughout his cancer and shows no understanding of his wishes. (Not dying in a hospital, for example). Later in the series, when Walt has a lot of money due to his machinations, she is suddenly interested in him again and justifies it by saying that "spouses can't be forced to testify against each other" So she drops the wealthy Ted and returns to the wealthier Walt. To me, this looks like classic hypergamy. Walt in himself is also kind of a simp and puts up with an incredible amount for his family. His intentions in honor, but it's just out of proportion. To me, this series shows very clearly what I definitely don't want in my life. And i do not mean, the Drug Cartell thing. I mean his horrible Wive lol.
