Dude, yes. A couple weeks ago I had one of the best trips ever, totally connected with nature and it was so peaceful and humbling. All the problems I've ever had, have now, or will have in the future just disappeared for a few hours, and I was just in the perfect state of mind. Felt like pure bliss, like I'd reached a new level of understanding. If there's an "after" life, I hope that's how it feels.

Wonderful post OP. Back in the summer I traveled to my hometown to officiate my sister's wedding, ironic for a mghow but I enjoy public speaking and if it wasn't me it would have been my devout mormon uncle giving the speech.

The day after the wedding my dad and I packed up and headed deep into the wilderness, to a spring-fed alpine lake full of rainbow trout. I ate about five grams of mushrooms in the middle of the afternoon while my dad enjoyed some cannabis. We paddled the canoe out with our fly rods and I quickly became distracted by the swirls and whirls, the quantum intelligence of water, and then the cycle of life as fish jumped after bugs and my dad whipped his rod after the fish.

My trip hit a high gear when we returned to shore. I can't say it was a conversation, but there was some type of communication happening between myself and the trees. I believe conciousness is universal and plants have more intelligence than we can imagine.

The most powerful moment was when I placed my hand on a tree and came away with a sticky palmful of resin. It occured to me in that moment that trees have an immune system, and when we eat fresh fruits and vegetables we ingest that goodness. That's how food can be such powerful medicine.

A good trip every so often seems to be high on the list, along with regular exercise, for keeping my mental health in check during this insane inflection point of history.

On a sour note, it was saddening to see the extent of destruction caused by the pine beetle, it will be utterly devastating when a fire rips through that forest.
