Here’s an opinion that’s most definitely unpopular over on the other sub: people of MGTOW1 has too many incels and grown up incels. They’re men who can’t find a girlfriend either because they’re unattractive, rude, or just had bad luck with girls. This has led them to believe that love doesn’t exist, girls only love men for their valuables (always), and that they’re better off going their own way. The last one is most likely true.

I believe that at least some of these mods are like this- to either form or become a mod of a sub that was potentially formed out of spite.
