How about 44, single, never married, live alone on 6.5 acres, active on a dating site, barely traveled, $80K mortgage on $550K property, owns 2 cars outright, and $235K in superannuation?

Guy one, actually, except it's not realistic these days without a divorce, or constant fighting with a feminist wife.

Lets break it down a little further.

Guy 1 probably makes 20-30% more than guy 2... But has 3 times more expenses. guy 2 earns less, but net savings is more than guy 1.
Guy 1 has higher net worth, but 50% of that is owned by his wife. If they divorce (45% chance), his net worth will be reduced to 75k. Lower than guy 2.
Guy 1 works 4-8 hrs/ week extra than guy 2, and still has to do 50% of housework and childcare. 20-30 hrs/week.
That's a total of 30-40 hrs per week less of free time.
Guy 1 has 30% probability of being sexless (that the proportion of sexless marriages in USA)... unless he cheats. Guy 2 might have lower average sex per week, but his probability of being sexless is 15%. (its higher for younger males-28%, but lower for men in mid 30s).
Most importantly. Guy 1 may have to pay alimony and/or child support if divorce happens. Guy 2 gets keep 100% of his income and retirement savings.
Guy 2 has 100% chance of being alone in old age, Guy 1 has 50% chance. But Guy 1 will have lower net worth and half retirement savings if that happens.

Considering all the benefits and potential risks, I would prefer to Guy 2 any day.
