Follow the rules listed on the MGTOW2 side-bar. Rule 1 is: 1. Hate and negativity in general Keep the hate and angst to a minimum. Any mentions of female nature must be in context and OUTWEIGHED by the OP's own progress. No hate towards men (or women). This is a positive space for male progress and life outside women; as such, we do not want hateful or negative posts. We do not want to degenerate into a negativity echo-chamber. If you want to vent, be angry, other subs will cater to that. I thin…

Do we ever get beyond these types of posts? It's hardly stunning and brave to post a "women's general nature bad!" on a MGTOW forum. It's not progressing anything. Nice to get a lot of upvotes and validation I suppose, but it is the social media equivalent of rubbing one out. Nice to do, but not nice to watch when others do it. Just a thought. I'm Grandpa_MGTOW, putting the "grouch" back into "Grandpa". :)

The truth is that men need responsibility/burden and legacy—meaning a family—to find purpose. I agree with the idea that men need purpose in their lives to find direction. What else is "going your own way" than a direction, a purpose? MGTOW shouldn't be about standing still, pointing fingers at others. But I disagree that "family" is the natural purpose for men in today's world. It's what the dead hand of society (i.e. blue-pill narrative) tells men their purpose is. And men have believed that w…

MGTOW is (1) understanding yourself, and (2) understanding the world as it is. The red-pill comprises of those two things. MGTOW is viewing the world using red-pill knowledge, and acting in accordance of your needs and hopes. Doing what the fuck when you want, and if it anyone gets in your way, run them over. That's MGTOW for sociopaths. I guess sociopaths shouldn't get married either, but it's not a view I'd like to see anyone living in a society of people adopt.

That's because there is a lot of misogyny in MGTOW. Not here on r/MGTOW2, thanks to the tireless work of our mods. But outside of r/MGTOW2, there are a lot of men who use the MGTOW space to vent their anger and disappointment at women, as though women owe them something. They think that standing there and pointing fingers at others means that they are going their own way. But that isn't going anywhere. Going your own way means leaving some baggage behind.

I'm in my 60s. I grew up in a sweet spot of history where housing was affordable and salaries were pretty decent. Still, I wish I'd invested more into finances and physical health in my younger days. That's my tip: start investing young to prepare for when you are older. What do I think of the young? They're not much different to when I was young, from what I can see. But the world is different. I think young men are in for a hell of a hard time. Now, more than ever, it's time for men to go MGTO…

I'm glad to hear it. But a nitpick: You can't be forced to "go your own way". It is YOUR way. If someone is forcing you in a particular direction, then you are going THEIR way. MGTOW is freedom. It is saying "I'm not going the way society (or women, or MGTOWs, or anyone else) wants me to go, I'm free from the need to get validation from outside myself". So, whatever way you go, own it. It is YOUR way.

I'm in my 60s. I'm still healthy enough to live independently. When I no longer can live independently I expect to move into a retirement village or Aged Care facility, depending on the level of my health. I'm currently in good shape so I hope that is many years away. Currently I have family and friends whom I look after and they look after me. I'm wealthy enough to not be overly concerned financially. If I'd married and divorced, I doubt I would be. The mistake of your question is that marriage…

Listen to the women around you, hear their experiences. Those around me have described sexual harassment from professors, driving them to drop their major. They've described things such as cat calling, groping, etc, down to more minor things such as unsolicited flowers with love letters. Some of these things might not sound horrible to men, but we don't live lives where these things happen daily and are out of our control. That's so true. We need to listen to the experiences of women, just as we…

There are no levels. There is "going your own way" or "not going your own way." Let no-one, not even other MGTOWs, tell you how you go your own way. Thoughts on LV5 and do you feel it’s “too extreme”? "Too extreme" for whom? For me? Who are you to tell me what is too extreme for me to do? For you? Who am I to tell you what is too extreme for you to do? You see the problem. By calling it "too extreme" you are saying that this is not the path a man should walk. But MGTOW is about "me", it isn't ab…

There is a method within root cause analysis called "The Five Whys" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_whys Is it sex with her in particular, or the general need for sex with anyone? Is the potential intimacy with her in particular, or the need for intimacy generally? Is it the pleasure from conversing with her in particular, or the pleasure to have someone to converse with in general?

Then you are no different than our friends on r/MGTOWban. They also have no sympathy to the problems men and boys face today. As one of them said to me "I'm not interested in men's sob stories". How about we have sympathy for the plights of women and men. It isn't about "making allies" or "let's all be friends". It's about being a human being. The kind of tribalism I object to -- what is called "othering" -- leads to divisiveness and hatred. That's as true as if it comes from feminists or MGTOWs…

What you are describing sounds like what happened in Calhoun's Mouse Utopia experiments. He found that overcrowding of mice lead to new social behaviours that quickly became normalised. The female mice became aggressive and stopped caring for their young, while the male mice started preening themselves and not showing interest in anything. Eventually the mice stopped reproducing and the population dropped. But the behaviours developed in overcrowded conditions were passed on. Calhoun called this…

I don't know what to do with my anger of the past. Just can't seem to let it go. I hear you. A lot of young men and boys have the same issues, where they can't escape what's happened in the past. And usually for good reason, since we are defined by the past. We are all the collections of the things said and done in our lives, both by us and to us. If our past is defined by hate and negativity, then it is hard to escape it since it becomes us. To escape it, we need to become about the present and…

That's a noble idea, and I wish you'd framed your OP with that in mind. It came across though as you rubbing one out while you were thinking about other men. How about reposting it, but this time rephrase it using positive encouragement to show how your male feminist brothers can change for the better?

Then let me ask you this: would you rather be a man or an attractive woman in today's world? Women have a lot of advantages as you note, so would you rather be a woman than a man? Think of all those advantages! Denying a woman with a good paying job a home loan was just wrong. It doesn't matter how many other advantages women had and have, it is wrong. The principle of equal opportunity is about fairness.

Can I ask: why can't you get her out of your head? Is it the possibility of sex you are after? Or the sense of potential intimacy, of possibly having someone in your life? Or is it just the pleasure of having someone to converse with? Sometimes getting the question framed correctly will help to provide the answer, so it's always good to formulate the question after some introspection.

I recommend intermittent fasting, for both weight loss and muscle gain. High (good) fats, medium protein and low carbohydrates (good-bye pasta unfortunately!). And, as the OP writes, regular physical activity. Good ideas for even when you're in your 60s! It's never too late, though it's better being early.

A DNA test should be legally necessary whenever a man's name is written down as the baby's father, as part of a stat dec by the mother. Always. Yes, I know it's unlikely to happen, but it just is fair. In a lot of places, the man doesn't even get told that his name is put down as the father, until years later when he is brought up for failure to pay child support.

It's all motes and planks. The negative side of the manosphere is to divide men. But it's corrosive way to view people. Those men are your brothers. It's the same thing that happened to feminism: once they reached peak "men bad!", they started dividing women into "good" and "bad" groups. Welcome to the future of MGTOW. Men are taught by the dead hand of society to receive validation from others. We need to retrain ourselves to seek validation from ourselves, from our own actions. That's the firs…

First-wave feminism was about gaining suffrage. Second-wave feminism was about gaining equal opportunity. In my living memory, a single woman with a well-paying job couldn't get a home loan as she didn't have a husband. That was wrong. I support equal opportunity. I think most men support it. In the 1970s, feminism started to become about money and power, and this attracted the attention of ideologues. Erin Pizzey, who set up one of the first domestic violence shelters for women, was driven out …

I'm a proud male feminist. I have been for at least 45 years. As a second-wave feminist, I believe that women should have equal opportunities to men. They should also have equal responsibility and equal accountability to men. The last two are not something that is usually pushed for by "feminists" today. The problem is that feminism is no longer about equal opportunity. Third-wave and now fourth-wave (intersectional) feminism is "men bad! women good!" That kind of feminism is a cancer. The reaso…

The dead hand of society gives women a blue-pill narrative as toxic as it gives to any man. Women are told that they are "strong, independent, helpless victims." They are told they can do anything they want, while being told that the patriarchy is stopping them from doing what they want. They are told they should strive for a great career over a lifetime, and, oh, also fit in children and be a devoted mother as well. Feminism told them that men all can have great careers, and a great career make…

Some men will be happier being married than being MGTOW. Marriage is a bad deal for men, so marriage is not for me. But for some men, marriage and children is a risk worth taking, and it may well work out for them. And good for them. That some marriages are successful doesn't negate the cost/benefit analysis for myself. MGTOW is about "me" and what I should do, not about "you" and what you should do. Thinking that ALL marriages must necessarily fail is dogma that isn't backed up by the facts. If…

I think it's driving the increase of men becoming MGTOW. This is the process: Men and boys are now being taught that being male is toxic Most men are decent people who aren't toxic and don't want to be toxic Men therefore are wary of interacting with women in any manner that might be seen as toxic. That includes avoiding interactions such as asking women out, offering help or offering mentoring at work. Men are criticised for doing those things. Men are criticised for NOT doing those things. That's a sound message that men need to hear. The attraction of a quick-fix risks overlooking one's general health. Often low testosterone is life-style induced. The solution is to eat well, sleep well, live low-stress and exercise. In other words, look after one's self.

Here's a thought: maybe those horrible women (note: just as with men, there are lots of great women but also horrible ones) have always been horrible from when they were young. It's just that when they were young and attractive, men tend to give them a pass on their behaviour. When they lose their "attractiveness" deflector shield, we start seeing them as they really are. In those cases, it's us men with the blindness problem. Start training yourself to see them as they are when they are young, …

There's a difference between posts that (1) claim "all women bad!" and (2) explain a personal story where the man improved his own life after one or more bad encounters with women. The first one is a generalisation that simply isn't true. Often it's just virtue-signalling by young people who think they'll get approval from such posts. Well said! MGTOW is about "me" and my choices. When Neo took the red-pill, the first thing he became aware of was himself as he really was. That's the first and most important step of both the red-pill and MGTOW. Only when we understand our own needs and hopes can we start to walk our own path. Otherwise we are just wandering around or standing still. Too many MGTOWs think that MGTOW is about pointing fingers at others -- at women, at "beta" males, at "simps" -- but that isn't going anywhere, mu…

This question comes up often in MGTOW forums. My heart breaks for young men with this problem. It does get better, Ippisimus, but I know telling you that isn't helpful right now. One question that might help you put this into perspective: how much of the desire for a girlfriend is the desire to show your friends that you actually have a girlfriend? smh. The romancing of divorce continues. Rather than being seen as a tragic and regrettable end to a partnership, it is seen as a "fun" way to renew one's life. Now, more than ever, it is important for men to consider MGTOW as a rational and common-sense option for their lives.

That's a fair point. I'm always conscience that I grew up in an older generation. While I remember what it's like to be young, I don't remember what it's like to feel young. But ksfox1111's blackpill posts is not MGTOW at all, in my view. He seems to see MGTOW as a reactionary force to change society rather than a personal life-style choice that changes the man. He turns MGTOWs into victims, which is a dangerous mind-set. If MGTOW points any fingers, it should only be inwards.

Yes, good point. I also hate those questions that assume something that isn't even true. For example, MGTOWs are often asked: "Aren't you afraid of being old and lonely?", since the person asking has been indoctrinated with the idea that being single means "being lonely". The whole question is framed from an unproven and incorrect basis.

I agree with "love yourself first". If the OP had just kept it to that, I'd have had no problems. That's an excellent starting point for going your own way. But "never trust a woman"? That makes about as much sense as a feminist saying "never trust a man". It doesn't help anyone to go their own way with those things as a starting point. Do you even want to have all men go MGTOW? We say that MGTOW isn't a movement for good reason: movements want to 'move' society from one position to another. But MGTOW is a life-style choose. It's about making the best decision for oneself. Some men will be happier being married than being MGTOW. And that's fair enough too. It depends on their own needs and hopes. The dead hand of society tells us this: get married; get the big house you don't need; buy an expensive fancy car; consume, consume, consume. It's all about where you get your validation. If you get it from others, then you play society's game. You have to go the way that society says. If you get it from yourself, you go your own way. The MGTOW sign that was created a long time ago perfectly describes that.

Sounds like your ex is living in your head rent-free still. "The best revenge is living well." Best to not spend time thinking about her, otherwise those thoughts will be an anchor that impedes your own progress. Keep going your own way and doing your own thing.

Virtual signalling nonsense. Don't fill your head with this stupidity. Don't teach others that either. It isn't good for you and it isn't good to teach others. Please restrict your crazy to r/MGTOW. Interesting video, thanks for sharing. There is nothing to discuss, you nailed it perfectly! All analysis of the benefits of marriage I've seen never take into account the impacts of divorce. See the Prager U video as a good example. It's an important piece of information! Marriage has costs/benefits. Staying single…

They are against it because you are mixing up two different things: Blaming someone for being a victim of a crime. Blaming someone for putting themselves into a dangerous situation. The fault of putting one's self into a dangerous situation is the person. We need to teach our children not to put themselves into dangerous situations. But they are NOT contributors to the crime itself. Take the following two scenarios: (1) A man knowingly walks through a dangerous part of town without good reason a…

That's an icky train of thought. It's the excuse of the con man. Con men justify their crimes by saying that their marks were partially to blame. Think about it: when both parties are to blame, the punishment is usually reduced. In the situation you described, how should the woman's actions factor into the reduction of punishment for the rapist? I'd say the punishment shouldn't be reduced. How about you? Well said. Don't see yourself through a woman's eyes. It's a part of the problem of looking for external validation rather than getting validation from one's self by learning to trust ourselves. Similarly, don't see yourself through anyone's eyes, man or woman, MGTOW or non-MGTOW. Understand yourself and then go your own way based on that.

I'll try to track down that article in Psychology Today, since it explains it much better than I can. If the person is having a bad time -- it may not even be related to the relationship, it could be work-related or life-related -- they start a fight with their partner. The fight ends with the partner making up with them, confirming that they are indeed loved, which makes them feel appreciated. It's that feeling of appreciation that they are looking for and which validates them. As I said, there…

One thing i've identified is i do not value myself. I always have some meta-simpery going on. Oh yes, I was like that too, up until my 30s. As someone said, "It's easier to conquer the external universe than to conquer yourself." It's a struggle we all face. I'm in my 60s and there are still elements of myself I struggle with. Thankfully women are not one of them. At my age, I have no expectations around women and that makes things a hell of a lot simpler. If they are good, I try to be their fri…

MGTOW is men using red-pill knowledge and make decisions, taking into account his own needs and hopes. One conclusion that MGTOWs make is that marriage and cohabitation are now bad deals for men due to legal ramifications. So often MGTOWs will say that MGTOW is defined as men who have decided that, due to legal implications, it is best to "not marry/not cohabitate". (I think MGTOW is more than that, but that's by-the-by here). My comment reflects that overly-thinking about women "violates MGTOW'…

I think we have different ideas of what "AWALT/NAWALT" mean. For me, it's a metaphor that's useful in terms of the legal ramifications of marriage and cohabitation. It doesn't matter whether AWALT or NAWALT -- all women have access to the legal system that disadvantages men. If "AWALT" is a literal description of women (and "like that" is like WHAT???), then that's a generalisation that is harmful for men to think, unless it is provable. So although I understand what you mean by EWALT, I think i…

There is an article on Psychology Today that talked about this. (I can't find it at the moment.) Basically some people (mostly women but also men) get validation from drama within the relationship. It's a rationalisation of a "we must fight so we can then we make up" approach in order to get to the "we make up" part.

Wow! What a fantastic series of posts. It epitomizes everything that I see as MGTOW. You've seen the experiences of other men, you've examined what you want in life, and rather than follow the crowd, you have truly decided to go your own way. And brilliantly written as well. Now that my eyes have been opened to what is truly important in life, I can really focus on them. That's MGTOW in a nutshell! This is because I realized that so many of the things that I was taught and led to believe ever since I can remember, were complete bullshit. Since I was a child, I was taught from my parents (mostly my mother), teachers, and the media (mostly Disney) that in order to be a complete person and fulfilled man, I would need to get married. Yes, this is the perfect description of "the blue-pill" narrative. It’s only now, at 19 years old, that I have learned how much of a PHENOMENAL LIE THAT WAS! Yes,…

That's a fair point. You're right in that women are fed a different narrative these days, different from when I was young. As someone once said, today's women are taught that they are "strong, independent, helpless victims". That's got to screw with their heads. Seeing one's self as a victim is so damaging, and it is the trap that I see many MGTOWs fall into. When you see yourself as a victim, that removes the impetus to grow. The most important part of taking the red-pill is working out your own needs and hopes, rather than accepting what society tells you your needs and hopes should be. It's a fair point. However, I've always said that some men find it easier to get married than to make a friend. But marriage is an expensive way to make a friend. Similarly with girlfriends. Still, MGTOW is "no marriage/no cohabitation", not "no girlfriend". MGTOW is defined in r/MGTOW2 as: Men walking away from marriage and other relationships with women that subject them to the laws of a gynocentric court. Muay Thai and Buddhism are completely interconnected in Thailand. I never knew that. I'd have thought it to be the opposite. Interesting!

MGTOW is making decisions based on red-pill knowledge. The OP's views are an important part of that. There are lots of great women out there. They have added greatly to my life. I encourage all men to make good women friends. At the same time, I can't ignore how easily men are destroyed in the current climate of misandry. As MGTOWs, we need to see things as they are. Women are great, but society has placed a terrifying power into their hands. Scary times.

Bad logic. You are equating two different things as though they were the same. Women want the best guy. Nothing wrong with that. Your brother's first wife was screwing around behind his back. That's wrong. Those are two different things. It's the same flawed logic that women make about men: Men want to have sex with women. Nothing wrong with that. For some men, they only want sex and nothing more. Nothing wrong with that either. Men lie to women to get sex. That's wrong. Whatever drives you, you…

I would recommend anything that brings a pack of young men together to train and learn their limitations. From this you also learn a lot about ethics. That's so true. I'd love to bring that into MGTOW somehow. That seems to be at least one missing piece: men coming together to work and learn ethics by doing so. Integrity, ethics and understanding oneself are important factors in working out one's own way. Thanks for your contribution.

Yes, discipline, respect the sensei, and feelings of accomplishment. All needed to improve self-esteem! Don't get taken for a fiscal ride though. Is that common, to your knowledge? Any suggestions on how to avoid being ripped off? I suppose good martial schools are accredited somehow?

Actually boxing is both a sport and a martial art. Anything related to fighting is a martial art. It may be why the words "martial" and "marital" are so alike! :) Good input, thanks for that.

Yes, well said. It's said that if a young man doesn't find a father in the home, he'll find one on the streets. The large numbers of fatherless boys does seem to correlate with increasing numbers of the homeless and violent perpetrators of crimes. I've heard that Jordan Peterson's writings have helped a lot of young men and women with helping in finding direction to their lives.

If you want to have kids, then have kids. If you want to get married, then get married. Marriage and kids aren't for me, but they may be for others. The label "MGTOW" would no longer apply to the others, but so what? It's just a label, that's all. You do what is best for you. The problem is that society tells young men that they should get married and have kids. Society tells men and women that it is SAD if a man doesn't get married and doesn't have kids because "they will be lonely". But it sim…

I think you mean "Who do OTHER PEOPLE consider what a top 20% male is." I suppose once you've found out, you can use their views to make a path. Or you can go your own way right now without knowing who OTHER people think is a top 20% male. I recommend the second option! It's very important to invest in yourself. Invest in your physical health through regular exercise Invest in financial health through not getting married (if you're a man) and making actual regular investments Invest in good mental health. Please realize, for me it's not as easy as "Make friends and make an effort in the relationship" Then you've found the solution. To become an alpha male, make friends and make an effort in the relationship. Not because that will make you an alpha male (it won't), but because it isn't easy, and it is something you feel you need to do. Do alpha males do the easy thing or the hard thing? Are there any lessons that you learned from him, or notable sayings you can recall? If you can share them here, that would be good. I have dated in the past and eventually they want more and more until I end it. Now I'm COMPLETELY open to what I want and expect so it never gets there. That's the secret. But why are mostly woman shaming men who just want to satisfy their natural urges? Because a lot of men promise more than sex in order to get sex. It's fraud. The cities are dying in the West. I'm close to the age of retirement, and plan to live in a smaller town eventually. I've been looking at places and asking people about where to live. I've met plenty of women with excellent logic. I haven't met one to whom the legal implications of marriage didn't apply. MGTOW isn't about "no relationships with women". It's about making rational and common-sense decisions based on red-pill knowledge, which means "no marriage/no cohabitation". I think you are overly concerned with women. It's hard to go your own way if you are constantly thinking about women.

MGTOW is defined in r/MGTOW2 as: Men walking away from marriage and other relationships with women that subject them to the laws of a gynocentric court. That's a fascinating concept. I know there are retreats that have been set up -- often by religious organisations though not for religious education -- which people can enter for a week or two, but a deliberate secular one makes a lot of sense. I do see a bit of a clash with MGTOW ideals (not that that is too important) between "going your own way" and being in a dormitory-like life following set rules. But, as you say, it would be voluntary and temporary, and probably educational as well.

Sounds good! I always thought that "not having children" is the women's equivalent to men's "don't marry". Like MGTOW, it's a common-sense and rational decision. If a woman doesn't want children, she is not being "selfish" (just as a man not marrying isn't being selfish). She is making a common-sense decision based on her own needs and hopes. She shouldn't be shamed for making that decision.

Love is a noun, not a verb. Love isn't a feeling, it is what you do. Looking out for others, saying an encouraging word, keeping your promises even when those things are difficult. Those things are what love is. How you feel emotion-wise is just your feeling. A lot of people think they don't love themselves, but they are really talking about self-esteem. They don't esteem themselves. Yet they keep themselves warm, fed and sheltered. That's love.

Yes, those kinds of stories of male self-sacrifice for the greater good still seem to resonate with a lot of men. Though nowadays they seem to be tarred with being "toxic masculinity", so those kinds of stories seem to be out of fashion in the West in the creative sphere. It's more "realistic" to have superheroes whose power hurts others, than aspirational ones that protect the weak. I blame Alan Moore.

I've never heard of Kentaro Miura. I'm not into manga at all, but it does seem to be very popular in the West nowadays. I suspect it is because the characters are focused on adventure and heroism, and that seems to be lacking in the story-telling addressed to younger people today. Is my idea on the right track? I'm no player. I'm too honest and Christian to be a PUA. I'm mostly monk these days. I will talk to women, and I'm friendly, but I have no problem casually fake-laughing and telling a woman the exact opposite of what she wants to hear, while maintaining a smile so that she can't "argue" without being rude. If she does argue, I maintain eye contact, smiling, and say nothing. Usually. Its a case-by-case thing. I just want to say: I love this! Once you have no skin in the game, women stop becoming …

Invest, invest, invest: invest in good physical health (your 20s will end), invest in good mental health (make friends, keep up relationships, join into social activities), invest in good financial health (your 40s aren't as far away as you think!) Also: education, education, education.

That's interesting. Where do you stand on the question of "nature" vs "nurture" with regards to homosexuality and bisexuality? Would you say there is a difference between the two with regards to "nature"/"nurture"? I have a good friend who knew he was gay from a very young age though he didn't come out until his late 30s, but he had also been interested in some women in his 20s. He doesn't see himself as bisexual, though.

Fantastic! I hope you have a great life. It sounds like you have things sorted, though remember "Man plans, God laughs." I remember an older MGTOW (hence part of the reason for my handle) which was very positive. We used to say "MGTOW is freedom" often, but I don't hear it that much any more. You encourage me that it might be coming back!

Hi, and welcome! There are also a lot of positive stories in here. Don't let the horror stories drown you in bitterness and hate. Let the horror stories be education, and the positive stories be motivation, and you'll probably be okay. What do you think about MGTOW so far? Now that you've made the decision, what do you plan to do with your life?

Worrying too much about how women respond to you and you respond to women is taxing the brain. Though it's easy to say at my advanced age, once you feel you have no 'skin' in the game, and you have no expectations towards them, encounters become easy. When you can talk to women and not give two "f"s about how and whether they respond to you, you will have learned. Good for you! Fortunately I'm too old to worry about that now. But I spent a few very nervous days indeed in my younger years. Especially one time when my girlfriend said she was 'late'. The sooner Vasalgel (easily reversible vasectomy) is put on the market, the better. Imagine a world of single men who can have sex without fear of having children. Fewer single mothers, fewer cases of paternity fraud. It will be a different world indeed, in my view. Just remember to keep it wrapped. There are st…

I don't feel lonely because I have friends and family members, but I do miss that feeling of intimacy. I guess I just don't miss it enough to want to gamble on my own current happiness with my single life at the moment. And you're right: it's a decision that each man needs to make for themselves. Why don't you know what to answer her? It's either true or it's not true. If it's not true, say "that's not true." If it's true and you don't know why, then say "true, but I don't know why." If it's true and you know why, then say "true, and this is the reason why" or "true, but I'm not going to tell you." Or best: don't answer at all, but give a long sardonic sinister chuckle.

MGTOW is about making rational and common-sense decisions based on red-pilled knowledge for myself, taking into account my needs and hopes. Looking at marriage as a cost/benefit analysis, marriage is a bad deal. Now, sometimes bad deals pay off (e.g. playing the lottery is a bad deal, but some people win the lottery.) The deciding factor is: "how much do I need to marry?" That's the question society doesn't have us ask. There is just this assumption that men and women get married. There is even …

I don't think creating an acroynym for every situation is useful. The AWALT/NAWALT metaphor is enough, in my opinion. It's like the saying "I'm hungry enough to eat a horse", and then arguing over the size of the horse. Creating "I'm hungry enough to eat a pony" isn't the solution.

I wouldn't call it a "dark" truth. There is a certain freedom in no-one giving an "f" about you. That's what being a "grey man" is all about. I found intermittent fasting has been a real help. Not just the IF itself, but understanding the theory behind it. We all know eating sugar is bad, but IF explains why it is so bad, amongst other things. IF is eating within a 6 or 8 hour window. So 7am to 3pm, or 12pm to 6pm. The theory behind IF is that it gives the liver time to 'clear out'. I agree with your post. But my point is about making a distinction between (1) raising someone else's child, and (2) marrying a single mother. But under no circumstances will I be a part of the "dual mating strategy" or the "bailout" for single moms who made bad decisions all throughout their youth and expect other men to clean up their mistakes. Sure, and that's perfectly understandable. That side is about single mothers (which as a MGTOW, marriage to a single mother wouldn't be an option anyway). Why can't you have a relationship with a woman? Marriage and cohabitation are off the table, and for good reason: legal ramifications make them bad deals. Don't make a contract with someone who can benefit from breaking that contract. But if you are honest with a woman upfront (don't lie to women, don't lie to yourself), and she is happy with that limitation, then there is no reason not to have a relationship with her as far as I can see.

They want to form a loving relationship with a woman but feel that no woman wants to form a loving relationship with them. MGTOWs are "men going their own way". As define…

The OP is a cut and paste from a 2015 article which the OP posted the link to at the bottom. Ever since the 1920s, the United States has been in a constant decline economically, politically, and socially. These declines can be directly related to women having rights. That's a silly statement. The USA has had its ups and downs in the last 100 years. Do we credit all the "ups" to men and all the "downs" to women? The article's author's assertion isn't backed up. Much more evidence is required befo…

You have to compete to get women’s attention, and they are the one who decide the start and often the end of a relationship. And the lack of the power to decide, make men the weaker sex. No, it is thinking that you must get women's attention that is the problem. There is real power in not playing the glands game. The winning move is not to play. By worrying about what women think about you, you give them power over you. Why are you giving other people power over you?

You don't need children. As I've said many times: MGTOW is about "me", not about "YOU". Once MGTOW starts telling you what YOU need, it becomes a cult. I don't have children, and I've never particularly wanted children. But for many men, children are their lives. Even those going through shitty and destructive divorces still thank God for their children. Some men want children, and there is nothing wrong about that at all. The problem is that society tells men and women that they should have chi…

You can have your 4 wives whom you marry under the Shari'a (law of God). I'm curious about how this is seen today. Are men in Muslim countries that support the idea of having 4 wives still recommending it? I know it is a question of wealth, but from what I understand feminism is gaining ground, which means divorce laws are changing. So what's the view on multiple wives like in those countries that allow it?

It's a great idea. A knowledge database of the legal ramifications of marriage showing actual cases would be useful for men who just aren't aware of such possibilities. Unfortunately only two posts can be pinned on a sub at the same time.

Yes, true. Often names are decided by the majority group or the group in charge. The "Big Bang" theory was a derogatory term at the start. I sometimes see articles that refer to 'MGTOW' using it as part of a group term "Incel/MGTOW" as though they were interchangeable.

An article from 1981: https://www.nytimes.com/1981/04/23/us/single-women-as-homeowners-reflect-feminist-gains.html ''Ten years ago, a single woman applying for a mortage loan would have been laughed out of most lending institutions''

Yes, that's true. And conversely if it's a group that's approved by society -- e.g. feminists -- the extreme is NOT taken as representative. What can we do, if anything, to stop the more vocal misogynistic posters from being seen as representative of MGTOW?

The only difference is is that the bourgeoisies/ oppressers are now the feminists and we men are the proletariat/oppressed. Feminists are not the oppressors and men are not the oppressed. Don't live your life through the lens of the Oppression Olympics. It's not a competition. Yes, there are divorce laws that disadvantage men. Those laws were mostly drafted by men. Once you remove marriage from the equation, life is better for men than it is for women. Both men and women are still expected to co…

No, that person is right. In my youth, a woman -- even one with a high-paying job -- couldn't get a home loan without a husband's co-signature. If she was single, she was out of luck. The push for equal opportunity was a valid one. Things needed to change for women.

Is Ayn Rand a woman that could be the exception to the rule to AWALT? First of all, it is "AWALT/NAWALT". There is no "rule of AWALT". It's not a rule saying "all women are X". AWALT/NAWALT is a metaphor. I'm not a fan of the metaphor since it is meaningless distinction in MGTOW, but it's a generalisation about women's advantages in society and in the law courts. I think this is what MGTOW2 is all about. MGTOW1 is still obsessed with women, including how men can get back at feminists. MGTOW2 is about living one's best life. No need to get back at anyone. This is the essence of MGTOW: looking after myself. One way to look after myself is to not marry. Another way is to look after my health. From what I understand, in some places a woman can put any man's name in as the father. Years later, this catches up with the man and he has to pay back payments of child support. I've read of other cases just like that. For all you know, retal1ator, you are the designated father of a child out there, and one day you'll need to pay the back payments of child support. Yes, this is important red-pilled information. A Texas man is battling a court order that mandates he must pay tens of thousands in child support for a child whom he did not biologically father and whom he met only once. In 2003, a child support court in Texas ruled that Gabriel Cornejo, 45, had to pay child support to his ex-girlfriend, who had recently given birth, because she vowed there was no way he wasn’t the rightful dad. Agreed. There are benefits of playing by the rules of society. I want to keep those benefits. Things like health, security, education, etc. The problem is that some of things that society tells men are benefits are in fact not good deals (e.g. get married, get the fancy car, the big house, the well-paying job that crushes your soul). From the WGTOW subreddit: WGTOW is a community of women supporting other women who wish to live independently from men and relationships with them. Our users may be asexual, aromantic, or just generally happy single women. Sounds good to me. If men can go their own way, then so can women. More power to them!

To be an MGTOW you have to actually have the choice to get a woman then go your own way, not this "get no woman and go your own way". So you are defining MGTOW as "all about the women" now? Incels (involuntary celebates from women) and PUAs (pick-up artists of women) define themselves around women. MGTOW is men going their own way. What you are defining is "men going away from women." MGTOW didn't use to be like that. It used to be men making rational and common-sense decisions based on red-pill…

How can I find purpose and meaning in my life... I can answer that question, at least for myself! I'm in my 60s, well read and reasonably intelligent. I've thought a lot about this question. My answer: I have no fucking idea. It's called "existential nausea". It's when you are having a coffee, thinking about things and trying to work out the meaning of life, the universe and everything. After a lot of thought, you decide to have another coffee. I like Woody Allen's take: "Life is full of misery,…

That's a well written post. That level of introspection indicates to me that you are on the right track. One of the most important conversations you will have is with yourself, and it will last until your dying day. Do you love yourself? If you keep yourself warm and clean, do enough to survive day-to-day, and don't overtly abuse yourself, then yes, you love yourself. Just start organising your own life. Start by cleaning your room, as others here suggested. Now, do you love something outside yo…

Thanks for the link. I'll check that out. I'm coming to see the same. There are definite parallels in ideas between MGTOW and stoicism and minimalism. MGTOW tells us to go our own way, and stoicism and minimalism help us to determine what way we want to go and how to get there.

I see AWALT/NAWALT as a metaphor, like red-pill/blue-pill. The use of "all women are like that" raises the question of "like what exactly?" The answer is that society gives women certain advantages with regards to sexual politics and marriage laws. All women can use those advantages. Not all women will use them, but all women have them. I do agree with your point, though. Thinking that all women in reality have some kind of a hive mind is incorrect and sexist.

How can someone be sent their own way? If someone is sending you, then you are going THEIR way, not your own. For me, 'Men Going Their Own Way' is exactly that. Men deciding for themselves what way to go. Part of that is to choose not to marry or cohabitate due to the legal ramifications. When someone talks about "I was sent my own way", they're not MGTOWs. If "Mea Sponte Non Serviam" is a thing, then if you choose to follow a path that someone else is sending you, then you are saying "Serviam".…

I feel like that too... But you know, I've felt like that before. In the early 1980s, when I was a young adult, it really felt like there was going to be nuclear war between the USA and the Soviet Union, starting with a limited nuclear exchange in the east of Europe. I strongly remember that feeling of impending doom, similar to what I have now. Then the Soviet Union collapsed at the end of the 1980s, the USA was the only superpower and everything seemed extremely positive. "The end of history" …

Today's video is a little bit light hearted on the MGTOW side and it's focused more on self improvement. (It's still some nice clean MGTOW action) I would argue that that is in fact what is at the core of MGTOW: self-improvement. "Don't get married" is a conclusion based on it being a bad deal for men. As red pilled men, we're always talking about making masculinity great again... IMO "making masculinity great again" has nothing to do with MGTOW. MGTOW is about changing one's self, not changing …

Yes, a lot of people use the word 'loneliness' when really they mean 'lack of intimacy'. I wish we could ban the use of the word 'loneliness' when the person doesn't mean it! Because solving loneliness is easy: get a friend, get a pet. But that good advice doesn't help since that's not what the questioner really means in many cases. Solving lack of intimacy is a lot more difficult. But I think it can be done. Get a girlfriend, but make sure she first understands that you don't want marriage or c…

I define MGTOW as making cost/benefit decisions based on red-pill knowledge and taking into consideration your own needs and hopes. MGTOW is about what is right for me, not what is right for you. Movements are about changing you. MGTOW isn't a movement. MGTOW is about changing me. Marriage isn't for me, but it might be for you. Some men will be happier being married than being MGTOW. It really is a matter of luck. You know the risks, you know the legal entanglements are in favour of the woman, a…

I see MGTOW in the traditions of minimalism and stoicism. Stoicism is basically emotional minimalism. I'm coming to the conclusion that this is the direction that MGTOW forums should go. What are some simple things you guys have discovered that contribute to a minimalist lifestyle? Not carrying or storing mental luggage about women.
/r/MGTOW201/05/21 12:01 AM

That would reduce MGTOW to "It's all about the women". I'd prefer a song like "I did it my way".

To me it is about building up a knowledge base or creating a mental tool kit, so that we aren't continually recreating the wheel. Not sure of the best way to do that in a reddit format. Flairs certainly help.

Those are all great ideas, and all of them would be useful! But let's look at the first one: Finances. How would we do that? Could we do that on this sub, or would we need a separate one, e.g. "MGTOW Finances"? If so, how would that sub differ from a regular Finances sub?

Those are really good questions. I know what I'd like to see MGTOW become, though it would then become 'Men Going Grandpa MGTOW's Way' rather than MGTOW. So what do I want? I define MGTOW as "making cost/benefit analyses based on red-pill knowledge and taking into account one's own needs and hopes". A defining attribute of MGTOW is to not accept bad deals that society wants men to blindly accept. These include marriage/cohabitation, of course, due to the legal ramifications. But they also includ…

I'm a feminist (that is, I believe women should have equal opportunity with men, as well as equal accountability and equal responsibility). I'm certainly anti-feminist when it comes to the man-hating women supremacy stuff out there today. I'm also anti-MGTOW when it comes to a lot of the woman-hating that goes on on other MGTOW subs. To me, labelling myself "feminist" and "MGTOW" are a pair. Either I call myself both, or I call myself neither. Words matter. Definitions matter. I actually agree w…

Yes, all those topics would be great. There are probably as many possible topics as there are ways for men to go. But how to make that work? One idea might be to have a separate resource page on r/MGTOW2 that provides links to those types of topics. So the discussion would be on other subs. The links on the resource page would have been vetted by a MGTOW so that we know they are 'man friendly'. But Reddit isn't really set up to do something like that. Anyway thanks for your input!

It's a good suggestion, but I don't know how we could do it in such a way to formalise it as part of a MGTOW sub. That is, how do we get it going as an on-going topic? Otherwise it just becomes one-off tips. They may be useful but they tend to become repetitive. But something to think about. Thanks for your input.

I understand where you're coming from. Others have suggested something similar. I thought the same myself at one time also. But as I wrote on another post: It's not the talking about women that's the problem. Men have had various experiences with women, and it can be useful and enlightening to others to hear men's personal experiences. In that, talking about women is necessary and inevitable in MGTOW, since it provides input to help us form our own paths. The problem is the empty calorie "all wo…

MGTOW is men making cost/benefit analyses based on red-pill knowledge and taking into account their own needs and hopes. I decided not to marry/cohabitate because those are bad deals based on the legal ramifications. MGTOW is rational and common-sense. If the laws changed, etc, and my cost/benefit analysis conclusion changed, then of course I'd get married. If I thought that there would be overall benefit to getting married, then I'd get married. It's common-sense. Staying single is, for me pers…

Those are fair points. Generalising all women into a single "all evil" camp is not only wrong, but damaging to a man's psyche. I hate that aspect in a lot of MGTOW posts, since it is the opposite to the very idea of MGTOW. But to be fair to the OP, he was acknowledging that his feelings are wrong. As he wrote in the thread title "i don't want it and i should be better than that". MGTOW is a choice based on red-pill knowledge and taking into consideration your own needs and hopes. Choices have consequences. Choosing MGTOW means no marriage/cohabitation. Now, some men might find that against their needs and hopes and so can't choose that, and fair enough too. MGTOW isn't for them. I wish them luck. Choosing marriage and children is another choice. That you recognise these feelings as toxic is half the battle, so that's to your credit! I think it may be something that will require time to heal, unfortunately. Matthew 7, Grandpa MGTOW's version: Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your sister’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? I've found there is truth in the statement "Attention is to women what porn is to men." For men, the internet offers access to near-unlimited porn. For women, the internet offers access to near-unlimited attention. Sites like Only Fans provides a natural intersection for those men and women. Men tend to dominate sites that provide access to sex. Women tend to be the majority on sites that discuss relationships.

I basically try to treat them as I would a guy. That's it exactly. "You're a simp if you compliment a guy" is as true as "you're a simp if you compliment a girl." It depends on the reason why the compliment is being made. It's not the compliment itself that's the problem. Too many MGTOWs say stupid things about women. I'm in my 60s. I'd just like to be 33. I wouldn't care how much money I had and how many women I'd kissed. Knowing what I know now but being young again is priceless. I'm in my 60s, so I'm much much closer to the end than you are. Don’t let a women or anyone manipulate you or persuade you from doing something that primarily satisfy yourself. The real problem is who you listen to. Sometimes we value others opinion too little, and sometimes we value their opinion too much. Often the latter is from people we actively dislike. The secret is education. Learn from others more knowledgeable than yourself whom you trust. Value their opinions. Listen to them. Don't va…

Yes, I think a lot of us do. And fair enough too. You don't have to look too far to find articles and conferences about how crummy all men are, despite the very low numbers of actual crummy men out there, and despite the high number of men out there everyday helping people and risking their lives. It's unfair, it's toxic and it won't help anyone solve anything. Men are told that women hate us, and we are told that women have good reason to hate us. Does "toxic masculinity" exist then? If it does, what is toxic masculinity from a MGTOW perspective? Note: I do mean "toxic". There is of course "blue-pilled" masculinity ("a man's purpose is to make women happy"), which I think we all agree is not good. I'm thinking of actual "toxic masculinity", masculinity that is no good for any man or society.

It's a mistake that I think many MGTOWs make. My point is that you don't let women (or other people) drive your actions. You get validation from yourself. That's what MGTOW is all about. So, in that sense, thinking "you shouldn't compliment women" is as bad as "you should compliment women" IF you are doing either in order to get external validation. So: pay a compliment, don't pay a compliment; either way, act according to your internal values. It's not simping to compliment a woman. It is simpi…

You could be buying presents for the girl Nothing wrong with buying presents for a woman you could be throwing all kinds of compliments. Nothing wrong with throwing compliments to a woman. (Though not recommended in a work setting!) You could be doing random stuff for a woman that you're not even dating. Nothing wrong with doing random stuff for a woman that you're not dating. Yes, it is the "internal validation" vs "external validation" that is at the heart of MGTOW in my opinion. Red-pill knowledge is about understanding our selves as much as understanding our world. Once we know what we want (as opposed to what society tells us we want), we can choose our own paths and go our own ways.
