I am blown away at how many people are applauding Greta Thunberg for D-shaming Andrew Tate.

Just to put the given answers into context:

Each participant completed a five-item Relationship Dilemmas Questionnaire (RDQ) designed to determine which of two gender-linked violations-of-trust presented in the familiar forced-choice format distressed or upset them more. Each participant was asked to, “Please think of a serious committed romantic relationship that you have had in the past, that you currently have, or that you would like to have. What would distress or upset you more?” (Buss et al. 1992, p. 252). Each participant was then instructed to respond to each item by circling either A or B. The paired violations were:

  1. (A) Imagining your partner forming a deep emotional attachment to another person.
    (B) Imagining your partner enjoying passionate sexual intercourse with another person.
  2. (A) Imagining your partner no longer making an effort, including basic grooming, to look physically attractive.
    (B) Imagining your partner insisting you sign a prenuptial agreement before she/he is willing to commit to marriage.
  3. (A) Imagining your partner giving up her/his career and no longer desiring to work.
    (B) Imagining your partner looking five years older because his/her hair begins to gray prematurely.
  4. (A) Imagining your partner giving up on her/his career and no longer desiring to work.
    (B) Imagining your partner no longer making an effort. including basic grooming, to look physically attractive.
  5. (A) Imagining your partner looking five years older because his/her hair begins to gray prematurely.
    (B) Imagining your partner insisting you sign a prenuptial agreement before she/he is willing to commit to marriage.

Asymmetries in subjective distress were observed among African American and white (N = 191) men and women who were asked to imagine a partner being emotionally and sexually unfaithful, and a partner committing other paired, gender-linked viola-tions-of-trust.

More women than men were distressed by imagining a partner forming a deep emotional attachment to another person and more men than women were distressed by imagining a partner enjoying passionate sexual intercourse with another person.

In addition, more men than women were distressed by male-linked violations, such as a partner no longer trying to look attractive, and more women than men were distressed by female-linked violations, such as a partner no longer wanting to work.

The results contribute to a growing body of cross-cultural research reporting gender differences in distress to emotional and sexual infidelity.

The results also provide cross-cultural validation of the extension of an evolutionary perspective to under-standing gender differences in subjective distress to other biologically relevant viola-tions-of-trust.
