I don't think women should get the same sentences as men, men should get the same sentencing as women.

Just as there is a law stating that wages must be uniform across sexes, there should be a law that sentencing should be uniform across sexes.

It should be a fairly straightforward lawsuit if a man claims he got a harsh sentence because he is a man. He would only have to show that women got lighter sentences for the same crime, with the same history, from the same judge.

I don't think you're correct on the cause (even if it is related). I think that the ultimate cause is that society finds men more individualy disposable than it finds women. Simply put: women are human beings with inherent value (their wombs) while men are human doings which have to create value. Thus, when women do wrong you have to balance their inherent value vs disposing of them in jail; when men do wrong they obviously have no value and are easy to dispose of in jail.

Simply put. Judges need to be forced to apply equal standards.

Won't matter. The problem isn't even judges: it's juries. If women started getting punishments as harsh as men, juries would be even less likely to convict than they would a man in the same situation. Juries already accept a women committing "self defense" against a man sitting and watching TV or even sleeping at the time of her actions because "he abused her in the past" while we all know that would never fly were a man to commit the same acts.

If we got rid of juries, your proposal could work. But it's going to be a long hard road to get me to agree with that idea. The Jury Box is one of the very important defenses of liberty.

I'm of the same mind as Angry Harry when it comes to equality. I don't think it can ever truly be achieved.

Equality requires totalitarianism to implement; because society does not see men and women as equally disposable (nor can they, given the current human condition).

So the question is why are we attempting to achieve the impossible with the pursuit obviously harms society?

But if feminized societies are going to continue with the pretense of egalitarianism, then it's only fair to force them to put their money where their mouths are.

That failed back in 1920 when women got suffrage without the risk of conscription. At that point, everything was lost. There is no way to force a voting majority subgroup to accept more responsibility compared to the minority the government is exploiting to buy said majority's votes without replacing the government.

I think if you want equal sentencing, you simply need to mandate the number of beds in orisons be the same. If they can only incarcerate 10,000 men and 10,000 women, the prison industrial complex will ensure that the sentences are roughly equal. Men's sentences will go down and women's up.
