Statutory rape is a strict liability crime.

This means that it dose not matter if you thought they where of age; they told you they where of age; they had an ID saying they where of age.

It would probably help in a rape case but not statutory rape.

That sucks for your friend but would it not just be better to sneak a glance at her ID or run a search on her or something before dating

Yeah. I agree. But it isn't worth the effort. If you think you need to videotape a statement of consent, then she isn't worth it and you can find something better to do with your time.
