Crosspost "Just because a person wants to become an "alpha male" it doesn't make him toxic, or bigoted" from /r/unpopularopinion:

As a person in his 20s, I've achieved alot. And I've had role models who are "alpha males". These men wake up early, hit the gym, have a successful business/job, they are respected by everyone, etc...

I literally do the same stuff. I don't consider myself an alpha Male. I consider myself someone who follows the ideals of being a alpha Male. The world is not black and white (not just alphas, and betas)

Anyways it seems nowadays people look down upon alpha males. And what I dislike most is people who assume I do it to attract women. When I go to the gym it's not to hit on women, or to get bigger to impress women. I genuinely love to workout. Yeah working out can improve your chances with women, but I've been working out for 8 years. I doubt working out more than I already am can drastically change my appearance.

The second thing I dislike is people assuming being a alpha Male is toxic. And by toxic I mean trying to assert dominance. I believe a true alpha Male wouldn't have to do that. (The lion doesn't always have to roar). You don't become a alpha male by saying "I am a alpha Male". You become it when everyone knows you are it. Yes there are toxic people who follow the ideology, but show me a ideology that doesn't have any toxic people. I can guarantee you theres not one.

Now let's talk about toxic masculinity, honestly I will never understand what it is fully. When I ask people I never get a direct answer. But to me it seems like doing something because its considered manly. An example is not wearing a jacket when it's cold out. For me I don't wear a jacket because that's the culture here. Women wear short skirts and men wear workout shorts while its snowing. Also I like the feeling of the cold. I dont do it to seem more manly, i just like it.

Now after reading this you might say "okay well you're rare not all men are like you" i can't say whether or not this is true, because theres not enough data to prove it.

Overall what im saying is not everyone who follows alpha male principles are bad, or just do it to have sex with women. I do it, because I like to do it. If a man wants to be a woman would you shut them down and tell them they are wrong? If not then why would you tell a man they are wrong for wanting to be manly. People should be allowed to Express themselves freely as long as it's not hurting anyone else in a messed up way.

Edit: man wants to be womanly*
