I never understand why people move away after divorce and then either expect to get full custody or make it difficult on the kids with some traveling so far back and forth. Barring extenuating circumstances it always screams putting themselves first. If it's just a matter of making less money and the kids having access to both parents regularly you take less money, assuming it's enough to survive. You can do with less luxuries..some personal sacrifice is needed. The moment my ex left I knew I was stuck in this city for better or for worse unless it was a matter of being homeless. At least until they've moved out.

OK, a couple of things I noticed

he has their kids primarily, which would be unusual, so I'm wondering what's behind that, given that it's usually mum who gets custody.
she moved away because her husband is air force, I don't begrudge her for that, but she must have realised that this situation could come up( and maybe ask the AF to try and accommodate?)
the labelling in order to gain the sympathy vote wasn't a good idea or helpful, calling her ex a narcissist and referring to the girls as "my" rather than "our".
she would have been better to come to an alternative/compromised arrangement( maybe ask the kids what they would like)
distance by choice( effectively by choice) is a reflection of yourself, which you had some control over. When you divorce, you are still a parent, and thus you have to accept the restrictions( and sacrifices) that comes with having children. Disclaimer I don't point this at parents who had no choice due to bad circumstances such as legal, violence etc( I'm 7 hours flying time away from my own kid , where ever she was last, but still denied contact).

I still think the mentality of society and the legal system is so broken that it won't help both parents be part of their children's lives. No wonder PA is such an issue

was her choice to move so she suffers the consequences, ive driven 16 hrs one way so my child could see her father as he didnt drive at that time and this woman is complaining about a 6hr drive that just blows me away. Some women really irk me.
