Two years ago my then seventeen year old nephew was suicidal. He used exactly those words. "I don't want to be a man".

He seems OK now but he's had the same experience of life as his entire peer group. Growing up hearing nothing but spite, venom and blame towards his sex with no escape.

It's no surprise we now have record rates of suicide among boys and young men.

You can still be a man by following a different path to getting your fundamental needs met than relying on one woman to be everything to you. The tragedy is that society doesn't facilitate any other path but one, that puts mens wants in conflict with womens.

A Thermomix is not essential to create a meal, especially when they aren't readily available to you.

I was raised Protestant, became secular, and for a long time struggled with my self worth as a man, at one point I considered transitioning. Becoming Catholic a few years ago helped provide clarity for the first time especially attending more conservative churches, even though I am a political independent and don't care much for the culture war. I'm not saying that everyone here should be religious, but there is something to be said of the decline in religion and the rise in hatred and self hatred towards men, and as a former progressive gave me insight into why young men who are religious gravitate to more hardcore religions like conservative Christianity and Islam.
