Disgusting 😡 Our prison system is already fucked. We should be rehabilitating not just locking them up. Not to mention the gap between time women serve and the time men serve for the same crime. Absolutely insane.

My god, sentenced to life at 14, thats ridiculous, even for murder. Most serial murderers aren't treated that harshly as adults.

But 80 days solitary in a row is inhumane.

His mother, Sheena Evelyn, says she was told by his psychologist that his mental state is declining due to the trauma of being separated from his family at a young age and then locked up with no human contact.

No shit, any person with common sense would have figured that out.. The ones who aren't sentenced to life...they're setting them up to be lifelong criminals by denying them the basics outside of just existence.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice told The Independent they did not comment on individual cases, but claimed “we do not have solitary confinement in the UK”. They added that segregation “is only be used as a last resort, under specified safeguards and regular review, where young people are putting themselves and others at risk.”

So they're lying, or they aren't actually making the places under their purview do the right thing, either way, its absolute horse shite. If you actually want to stop people being criminals, this isn't the way to do it. As they noted in the article, when they're segregated for so long, they behave worse, not better, so they just toss them back in.
