First time I was banned from r/sex was because I was intactivist, now I'm banned because a moderator doesn't like I defend men against her prejudices. if that isn't moderator abuse

Buzz feed "Men need soap marketed to men. Look at their fragile egos!"

Meanwhile I'm in the shampoo isle drowning in the color pink, just looking for some goddamn head and shoulders, like "do you actually hear what you're saying?"

[–]blueXcat[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And the next day they complain about the pink tax and I'm like "just chose a fucking men razor and shut up already. I'm not suddenly a man because I do!"

[Archive of Article Here.]

Please think of archiving links to sites that are known to have biased and/or negative representations of men, masculinity, and men's rights -- i.e. The Guardian, Slate, The Telegraph, Cracked, BuzzFeed, Vox, Vice, Break, Bustle, Medium, Mic, Huffington Post, and so on. Or to articles and/or sources that may be controversial, which may be altered and/or removed because of our current culture of censorship. https://archive.is/

Stupid and poorly thought out click-bait that doesn't deserve the attention it's getting, what else is new about Buzzfeed?

Some of those items prove exactly the reverse and maybe that's the point. Men are expected to put up with shit (like this article) and women have their fragile egos pandered to (feminism). The attitude of the media in general and the sales pitches that advertisers come up with for products, treat women as narcissists but assume that men can take a joke even if it's not really a joke but just blatant insulting. This article is simply an example of this behaviour. Insult men (they can take it like an adult) but never ever ever insult women because they are babies with fragile egos.

This is certainly the attitude of advertisers, who presumably have to OK their campaigns with their clients (producers) and as a result of advertising being this way so is most media that depends on advertising.

These people can be ideological but my guess is they test their ideas before running them so these tactics reflect the reality they see in focus groups. Namely men can take a "joke" like being blatantly insulted, and women have fragile egos.

Now if someone has a fragile ego the last thing you can do is tell them that - if you want to sell your product. But if they are an adult then you can (falsely) tell them they have a fragile ego to appeal to the fragile ego of the other sex.

Yup.

Also: Women spend 80% of the money. Is it any wonder advertising panders to them more?

Masculinity is strange. It's so weak and laughable and fragile, yet so toxic and powerful that it controlled and oppressed everything else since the dawn of time. Funny how that works.

If I recall, there was a post recently complaining about 'career costumes' for young girls - there were 60-odd for girls and 70-odd for boys - but all the girls costumes were cute or sexy variants of the costumes.

Isn't this the same complaint in reverse? I mean, complaining about a manufacturer making a men's version of a thing (when the women's version is completely fine), while simultaneously complaining that a manufacturer doesn't make a girl's version of a thing, when the boy's version is identical to what the women's version would look like. (in the example - Doctor, UPS Driver, Police Officer, etc, etc, etc).

Isn't that talking out of both sides of your face?

Total Derp list. Ancient egyptians, men and women, used lotion because of the dry air. Protecting your body and keeping it clean was something males have done, from Egypt to feudal Japan, because it is beneficial for many reasons. Men don't do things that are manly or effeminate. They do things that are beneficial, like controlling their emotions or laughing off the terrible attempt at making fun of men with #fragilemasculinity or whatever.

The epitome of petty.

Buzzfeed being buzzfeed. On other news, water is wet.

BuzzFeed's credibility has just gone deeper into the negative zone.
