I've never seen a strike proposed here. Why? Do you want to make a real difference? You must hit them in the wallet. The child support system is probably the #1 source of government funded discrimination against men.

*(Aside: i also rarely see recognition of how it changed in this generation- 90's clinton era welfare reform wasnt it? The government shut down safety net benefits, and shuffled the burden from taxpayers onto fathers, hitting the poorest worst. It made a sort of intensely regressive tax, with the government serving as greedy broker of the funds. Thank tradcons and corporate liberals.)

A pay strike can't be about denying children. Its a case of if you must pay, they must stop forcing children and fathers apart while the government shakes you down for its own ends. So it must come packaged with the principle of offering support- but not in the form of funding a machine that screws you worse the more you pay it. If you must pay, you need a say in how its taken and spent.

  • Presumption of equal time with kids is a no brainer.

  • Mothers who block visitation do it scot free. They must face consequences equally as debtors do.

  • If they regulate how food stamp money is spent, they can do the same for child care expenses. We know the support money comes as a tax-free gift that mothers can spend on beer for all the state cares.

  • If women demand equal representation in board rooms - and special female victim units in the justice system... its only fair to demand men educated in male issues in family courts and CPS departments. Bigots are in power there. That's one way to demand change. Not a clean cut solution but something.

No justice, no pay.

Of course there's the usual complaints. The state is going to fuck anyone who tries. Arent men already being fucked? Its the same for any kind of strike. Strikes work because people have had enough. They know that no matter how bad they can abuse one person, they can't do the entire population. They can try, but the worse it gets the more protesters there can be. "An injury to one is an injury to all" is the principle behind successful strikes.

Workers do it, and tenants do it. If there can be such a thing as a rent strike against a powerful landlord, why not organize child support debtors? Debtors prison was abolished generations ago except for them... it would only be finishing the job.

Whenever there can be a collective action like this, that's when things will really change.
