It is a worry since the HIV infection rate has gone up in Botswana post circumcision programme.

Also some studies suggests HIV is easier to transmit to women if the male is circumcised.

Let get this straight:

You tell a black African man that he should wear condoms 100% of the time to protect [at almost 100% effectiveness] against AIDS/HIV.

Then you tell him, that you can mutilate his penis for him, and this will reduce his chance of being infected by AIDS/HIV by 60% [according to disputed research, and not in real world conditions].

But you tell him he must then still wear condoms 100% of the time.

And you tell him lies that "circumcision" is "healthier", "cleaner", "sex is better" and women "prefer it".

And he realises that condoms reduce sensation, and when you have a mutilated penis, sensation is reduced even more.

What do you think he is going to do in the real world? Not what he TELLS you he's going to do, or THINKS what he SHOULD do - but what he ACTUALLY does.

Let me guess: he believes that now he has little to no chance of catching AIDS/HIV. Otherwise, why would the clever white people insist he gets his penis mutilated?

This is fucking evil.

Every time I get into an argument about circumcision with someone (which isn't often), they always bring up some absolutely insane false notion that "uncircumcised is dirty" and that it will somehow protect against HIV if you just cut it off. They usually pull this from the bottom of their bag of outdated facts and ignorant tricks.

I'm always dumbfounded by this comment, and I always get irate and try to explain to them what they're saying is profoundly dangerous and 100% fucking ignorant. But no, it's somehow important to them to reinforce the idea that circumcision is completely necessary and I'm "insane" and a "conspiracy kook" for caring at all.

-- Why are the most violent, militaristic places the ones with the highest rates of circumcision? Religion, infant mutilation, trauma. Great recipe for creating unwitting sociopaths and aggression.

Fucking evil.
