Though not recently, I've seen this argument used a number of times:

If "preventative care" is a legitimate reason to promote circumcision, then why don't we cure breast cancer by promoting double mastectomies for female infants?

Now, as I said, this argument was clearly hyperbolic... until now; it would appear that Angelina Jolie received a preventative double mastectomy, making the above statement a somewhat legitimate comparison.

Mastectomies have a much shorter recovery time, and do not involve the equivalent of a third degree burn to complete; further, by removing breasts we remove bullying based on them in high school, making life easier for women; plus, they can simply choose any size or shape they want later in life, eliminating related insecurities.

I'm not in favor of performing any surgery which is not not immediately necessary without the consent of the patient (not their parents), but double mastectomies certainly seem to be far more beneficial, with fewer draw backs, than circumcision.
