The posters are dangerous because they fail to tell the whole story. We now know that a lot of men are being unfairly charged with rape in situations where the parties are mutually inebriated. That's not MY opinion -- it's from Brett Sokolow, head of NCHERM who has done more to champion to rights of rape victims on campus than anyone in America. Sokolow says that men are being charged for engaging in mutually tipsy sex and that this is discrimination against the guy. Mr. Sokolow also recently detailed many recent cases NCHERM has investigated that illustrate, beyond any question, that in the "hook up" culture, the evidence is often too murky to warrant charging and punishing the male accused of sexual misconduct, but that's exactly what too many schools are doing. Among many other things, Sokolow says that "in a lot of these cases, the campus is holding the male accountable in spite of the evidence – or the lack thereof – because they think they are supposed to, and that doing so is what OCR wants."

So how about a poster that says, "Don't be that guy, or that girl."

The "just because you walk her home" one stands out to me because I know a guy who almost got in some serious trouble when he just took a girl home. Be a stand-up guy and take a potential victim out of a dangerous situation? Be ready to be considered the villain.

Damnit, I was gearing up to go out and sexually assault some people. Since they asked so nicely, I'd feel rude and inconsiderate if I went ahead with it. Assault averted.

The irony burns. Look at the sidebar on the left. It contains a picture of two shady looking guys and a vulnerable looking woman.
