I keep seeing these 2 conflicting narratives:

  1. It is a completely personal decision of the mother, whether she breastfeeds her baby. A mother who is choosing not to breastfeed, for any kind of reasons (she likes to drink alcohol par instance) is doing an OK thing.
  2. When custody of children of breastfeeding age is to be considered in divorce, then they should definitely be with the mother, as the holy institution of breastfeeding is so essential for life and development of this precious little flower.

The actual mental problem is, that if #2 applies, then #1 should be a point to contest, should a woman choose not to breastfeed, which would mean responsibility.
