People often focus on the person making a false accusation and certainly such false accusations are terrible, but I think what often gets lost is that it’s how police, prosecutors, schools, businesses, etc react to false allegations that causes the harm.

The Harm caused Depp when Heard falsely accused him was that Disney withdrew his film offers.

The whole point of MeToo is that men will suffer due to unproven allegations.

The reason women like Crystal Mangum make false allegations is because they know such accusations will be taken at face value, they know the men they accuse will suffer and they know that even if their accusation is proven false, it’s very unlikely they will suffer any consequences.

If falsely accused men were truly treated as innocent until proven guilty, were afforded proper due process, and if false accusers like Crystal Mangum were held responsible for their false allegations, the prevalence of false allegations would drop notably.
