Here's my situation. I teach eighth grade social studies. One component of my course is Model United Nations. The way this works is me and the other social studies teachers choose a topic and then prepare for a simulation.

The topic that was chosen by the other teachers was gender equality (millenium development goal #3). We are going to be discussing equality in our communities and in the world at large.

I've been watching a lot of GirlWritesWhat videos and they have been very enlightening. I really want to make sure that I am not pushing a feminist agenda, but rather a human rights agenda.

I'm thinking a lot about how to approach my instruction and I was wondering if anyone from this community has any ideas. Maybe general ideas about how to approach the topic. Maybe some clear examples of gender inequalities that exist for both men and women in the middle east and india?

Thanks!
