A review of 146 cases of false rape allegations found 16 deaths. Twelve of these were the suicide of the wrongly accused. One was the suicide of the mother of the wrongly accused. One false accuser took her own life. Vigilante action led to the death of a man who was falsely accused. Another falsely accused man died in custody.

Today, thanks to the Levitt Report, jointly authored by Alison Levitt QC, and Sir Keir Starmer (when he was Director of Public Prosecutions), we are encouraged to believe that the rate of false accusation is 0.6%!!!!! This has been taken as the 'gold standard' since 2013, the year of its publication.

This sleight of hand has been achieved by conflating the figures available from the dismal record of the CPS on false accusation of rape. Here is the logic used. Very few women are ever prosecuted on charges of false accusation of rape. ERGO, the rate of false accusation is very low.
