I was chatting to my new Indian flatmate about her home country a few days ago. As I was chatting to her I was looking up things about her home country/state (Punjab India), and I noticed that there was a major discrepancy in the number of men vs women in the demographics table. She told me that there were 7 girls for every 10 boys at her school with sex selective abortion/infanticide taking a huge toll on the number of women that were growing up there.

The demographic consequences are huge. There are a likely a huge number of males in her country that will never have sex, let alone marry. The devaluation of the female gender inevitably also takes a huge toll on the male gender as well. She relayed to me how the everyday sexism and fear of rape was a large part of the reason why she wanted to emigrate out of her country to New Zealand.

Hate is always degrading. In the above example men who become rapists are degraded as are their victims. We can never truly be free of the consequences of hate directed at the other gender to ourselves because we must as a function of biology interact with that gender at least as far as the continuation of the species is concerned.

As I grow increasingly experienced in understanding the whole range of consequences for misandry, misogyny, racism etc I am coming to the conclusion that hate for any group cannot be confined to that group alone. Hate as a state of being inevitably leads to unintended and negative consequences for all involved parties.
