This is something I've wanted to say for a while because my sister was raped about 8 months ago. When that happened I posted to reddit, and I got some good advice, but also got a lot of people questioning whether it was rape or not. And actually I think if she tried to take the case to court it would be very difficult to prove that it was, in fact, rape. At the time this made me very, very angry because I was just trying to use reddit as a resource to help my sister, and I didn't want to hear that. She didn't want to even tell our parents about what happened, much less the police, so there was no danger of this boy being falsely accused. But what I've come to conclude from all this is that false rape accusations hurt everybody, regardless of gender. Obviously I do not want any men (or women for that matter) to be falsely accused of rape, because that is awful. But apart from that I think false rape accusations create a toxic situation wherein innocent people are constantly on the defensive, and victims are ashamed and afraid to come forward because they think nobody will believe them (as in the case of my sister). So, bros, hopefully we can all come together and try to change this environment where men are villainized and women are discredited.
