I don't really think that analysis from specialists are needed. The real reasons I believe are two:

Propaganda: culturally we talk a lot about mother's day, and commercials try hard to convince us how important it is. The same thing doesn't really happen with father's day.
Women ask for it. Mothers remind you of their day and they pout and make you feel bad if you don't recognize them as much as they think you should. Men don't do it. Fathers often don't say anything about father's day, and they don't complain if you don't do much.

My dad has never mentioned Father's Day whereas my mom sometimes brings up Mother's Day(specifically what we are getting her and where we are going out to eat).

How many fathers have been cut out of their children's lives? I can't imagine that would affect how much is spent on father's day.

Generally, women are needy and require accolades and celebrations - constant affirmation - for simply existing to feel better about themsevles... where men are not and do not.

Society knows women are materialistic cunts and they literally demand gifts on mothers day. Your father is a man who has to go to work. A solid hand shake and a reminder you love him is all he needs.
