So what are they going to do with female gendered profession's? F.ex Hebamme? Midwife for the english speakers among us. Its a female gendered word, so should that also be neutral?

It's not going entirely unchallenged apparently, the German language association criticised it:

The GfdS described gender-neutral definitions as the product of an 'elitist milieu' and accused Duden of attempting to impose 'politically correct expressions,' The Times reported
