I'm pretty fucking sick and tired of hearing about "toxic" and "fragile" masculinity, among other adjectives. At first I thought it made sense from a grammatical perspective to say that (eg. "toxic" noun), however this isn't the case at all and new wave feminists and other misandry promoters don't seem to understand the idea of masculinity at all.
Masculinity is an abstract concept. From a purely psychological perspective, it can only be defined as either strong or weak (eg. someone with a strong masculine complex would be more assertive, risk-taking, bold, and so on, whereas someone with a weak masculine complex would be the opposite). You cannot put a label on masculinity other than defining where someone is on the spectrum. You would not say someone is "toxicly autistic" for being towards the end of their spectrum, for example.
Putting a negative adjective in combination with the word masculinity causes people to associate masculinity with bad traits which aren't masculine or feminine, such as hyper-aggressiveness, violent tendencies, insecurity, etc. whether they want to or not. It in turn causes true masculine traits to also start to be shamed, as things begin to overlap (such as taking action to defend someone overlapping with violence). Masculinity isn't just something people can stick an adjective to because it's a completely abstract concept not some mere weak thing.
Looking forward to hearing you guys' additions to what I came up with.
