I'm really surprised the CBC is talking about male suicide.

The feminist censors must be on vacation.

All I normally hear on every news and talk shows is about women's problems.

Wiseman says. “But I think men are, in general, struggling to reconcile that with an older idea of masculinity...[that they should be] the breadwinner and supporting their family.”

“The struggle in trying to reconcile those different ideas results in this kind of isolation and panic and withdrawal.”

He makes it sound like it's men who can't adapt.

It's more complex than that.

Men are given contradictory messages on a daily basis:

I was told I'm not a real man if I don't oogle at women while raised hearing men are pigs.

Other men get told they are lucky if they get groped or sexually assaulted.

Be gallant towards women but then don't be gallant.

Shut up and Man up!

And the list goes on.

It's not the fault of men if we are always on eggshells.

Wow! he's saying something good about men: we emotionally invest!

At least he didn't blame men for not talking about their problems like mental health people usually tell us.

As others have written many times on this sub, when they do they talk about their problems it gets dismissed, or they are told to man up and get mocked.

Since this is as painful than the problem they are suffering with, they keep quiet and suffer in silence.

I'm still annoyed that the different levels of government have bureaus to help women.

It tires me hearing about how "men suffer because they believe they have to be the breadwinner", when no one realizes that men are FORCED to be breadwinners or slaughter material - alimony, child support, overwhelmingly paid by men, combat deaths, work accidents - same. But yeah, let's blame "masculinity"...
