Really it's simple. The 'man flu' or 'man cold' are internet memes, most internet feminists are very young women who have never known a real flesh and blood man.

There may have been a FEW men around, but they never socialized with them at all, all these women know about men is the media image of men. They tell each other fantastical ghost stories about men, as tho men were supernatural creatures, they nod and agree with each other, they make up wilder and more exciting stories to top each other.

The men that feminists talk about are wholly imaginary, made up by sheltered sequestered daughters of feminism.

I’m sure a lot of it is exaggeration.

There is a little bit of truth to it though. Colds and the flu seem to hit men harder because their immune systems aren’t as strong as women’s.

Having a stronger immune system isn’t all good though. It makes women more susceptible to allergies, autoimmune disorders, and reactions from vaccines.

I’ve often said if women don’t shut up about the “man flu” their husbands should start complaining about “woman allergies.”

Man flu is what happens when a man gets really sick and people make fun of him, and then a woman catches a cold and people act like it's a death sentence.

This has been a thing in the UK for years, outside of the internet. I remember a women at work in my first job in the year 2000 saying I had “man-flu” when I had a cold. It always stuck with me because I had to ask what she meant and people made fun of me for asking. It’s very common in the UK, if you’re a man that works in an office with women, and you get a cold, chances are you’ll get the man-flu jibe from st least one person.. It’s supposed to be a joke but it’s a bit tiresome. Honestly the word has almost completely replaced cold when referring to men. Like, if a woman’s husband has a cold she say, “he’s got man-flu at the moment” or something. Usage of this is extremely common, every woman I know says it exclusively when referring to men with a cold.

Men actually get more severe colds, but oddly enough still take off less time from work over them.

This isn't a feminist conspiracy or a meme thing. It predates internet culture. I am from the UK and I heard reference to it back in the 90s.

It has come to light that men are often genuinely hit worse by seasonal flu (and covid) but "man flu" was always a dimissive label given mostly by women to mock men for their seemingly overblown and melodramatic response to flu and colds. Women might have the same flu and continue to go about work, child care and domestic tasks and then their husband gets it and is floored for two weeks. So it was joked about. Men also joked about it because it seemed baffling that they would suffer so badly with cold sweats/fever/muscle ache and their wives seemed to bizarrely power through it. Its also super noticable at a certain time of year when flu is rampant. But since evidence has shown that men genuinely often can get worse symptoms of common colds and flu, it has fallen out of use among a lot of young people and it generally seen as a sort of outdated and silly sexist term.

Same way that men used to downplay period paid and PMS when women were suffering. Seems we all suck a bit at sympathising with the physical hardships of the other sex.

As a cis woman who acts like the stereotype when she gets a cold, it's a way to attack men. Its stupid. Men probably complain less than or as much as women, but because of the empathy gap, its treated like a big deal.
