Hobbes central argument was that the Leviathan, aka the strong central monarchy, was absolutely essential to maintaining a society that doesn't devolve into brutish chaos. Now, some women THINK they are the force that prevents men from devolving into some sort of caveman whatever, but I think men are just as often the drivers of civilized society. Polite society means having manufactured goods, sanitation, clean water, and so on. Men do all that work. Perhaps men do it to take care of their families and to attract a mate in part, but it's not because women tell us to or because they expect us to but rather because we are competing with other men for their attention.
