We NEED to buck traditional gender roles. And the most severe of these roles is the antiquated notion that men should go down with the ship. That men should sacrifice their very lives for women and children. That men should work themselves into the grave to provide for women and children.

I think it's time for women to go down with the ship. "Scepter and crown must tumble down..." as the poem goes.

Just as we rightly recoil at the idea of men taking "leadership" roles in tech etc, we should recoil at the idea of men sacrificing their very lives for women during natural or man-made disasters. This is an extreme form of sexism -- it involves human life.

In the name of equality, I would like to see us challenging gender roles. It should be men and children first. Women should be the ones to go down with the ship. Who's with me? Ladies? ...

I'm guessing feminists will be the first to join this anti-discrimination campaign, since they oppose gender roles. Feminists? Radical Feminists? Anyone home? knocks on mic. Hey feminists! Feminists! Are you there!?

Edit: I'd just like to point out that this post is getting huge numbers of downvotes.

I wonder why? ;)
