How about a previously gendered law about violence against women, which is revised to be ungendered? There are lots of those, I don't know an example. I can't think of anything specifically for men, the trend is to de-gender laws.

For rape Victoria, Australia is a good example of a de-gendered law.

It sounds like VAWA is still a good law to reference if the angle of the paper is that there are gendered laws about domestic violence. Domestic Violence against men as a topic is characterized more accurately as being an ignored topic by lawmakers. If that is the project than what you really need is to show that domestic violence is legally considered to be male violence against women. It is the fact that the law doesn't consider female on male violence that is the project.

The law that existed before VAWA would be a good example of a law that was non gendered that became gendered.

Then go on to demonstrate that men make up 40% (or more) of victims but we have thousands of shelters for women, but only 1 in the entire country for men. you can demonstrate that women are far more likely to assault their SO, then the other way around...but that , that we have the Violence Against Women Act, which leaves whom as the perpetrator? You can study up on the Duluth model that, under which, male victims have a viable chance to be arrested than sheltered.

You can go on to demonstrate how we, in sitcoms, use women striking, punching, kicking in the testicles, as humor (T-shirts for girls that say, "men are stupid, throw rocks that them). I happen to catch last years fall preview of shows on CBS. In all five shows there was a woman physically abusing men by kicking to the testicles, slapping, even one woman punching a guy in the face and knocking him out.

Basic theme...That we have woven violence against men into the very fabric of society, see it as either justified, or humerous.

Ton of fodder out there, but it is not easily found, and the general media is pretending that it does not eixst. Reade here, FBi crime stats, US Census. Go over to A voice for men and you will find a plethora of information. MRAs have been battling this for year, being labeled "misogynist" just as all men are now consider to "Toxic.

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (that law that VAWA modified), combined with the Equal Protection Clause in the state of California (which interprets the equal protection clause more strictly than other states) was used in a lawsuit by the NCFM to grant men access to the government funded domestic violence shelter system through (at minimum) hotel vouchers.

Another possible entry point could be looking at Mandatory Arrest Laws by US states, with special reference to Montana's law, which doesn't refer to men directly but rather by size.

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you are looking for, but in North Carolina, there is a law that makes it a bigger crime for a man to assault a woman than for a woman to assault a man.
