No it can't "force" a woman to do it.

But it would be naive to think that certain behaviors have no effect on the other persons decision process.

In some cases, yes.

First of all, it is the wife's' ultimate choice. Also, I'm not speaking of all cases - sometimes the woman simply married a guy she didn't love or chose to be a slut.

But I think affection eventually takes a path with less resistance, if not the path of least resistance.

If the husband fits her (albeit capricious) notion of the perfect husband/lover/friend, she much less likely to go for another lover. Even if he is less than ideal - which is a given, and it's also a given that she's less than ideal - then fidelity depends on trust, respect, and love. Sometimes she'll daydream and think "only if..." about some construction worker, just as a guy thinks "only if..." about some babe in a flesh magazine. If there is enough trust , respect, and love, however, then she, and he, can overcome the temptation.

OTOH, of the husband lies to her, is lazy, berates her, and shows her that he doesn't love & respect her, and destroys her reason to trust him, then he ought to expect to be cheated on. This is not due to revenge, but to the immense resistance he has placed between her and her ability to get affection from him.

Even so, I agree with this:

However, if she chooses to launch herself into a red-hot affair, she is creating a bundle of additional complications.
