I was both surprised and happy about the response of reddit to this. The article talks about how educating women to be more careful has had a positive effect on reducing campus assault.

I'm pleased that we are moving into a society where it's acceptable to tell women to be careful much like my parents would tell me (as a man) to be careful when I go into dangerous parts of the city.

I'm pleased that the people leaving positively voted comments agree with this.

And I'm pleased that comments saying teach men not to rape instead are being downvoted - obviously not because we shouldn't do this, but because it's generally unhelpful and insulting to tell people not to commit a crime, much like if a black man walked into a shop and the owner shouted at him to not steal anything because of his skin colour.

You aren't gonna say 'But that's wrong' and suddenly that monster of a person is going to go 'Ohhh so that's why she's not happy'. Holy shit, it's not that they don't know it is wrong, it's that they DO NOT CARE.
