There is a good analogy that you might want to consider using if you are trying to tie men's issues into the mainstream discussion of gender issues:

It is often said that women are held back by a "glass ceiling" -- they look up through the glass ceiling and they can see the CEO and the top executives of the company up there on the top floors. Many women want to get up there, but if you are the first woman going up there at your company, it can be extremely intimidating, especially if it turns out that the male executives at your company don't like the idea of a woman entering their office space. As an extreme example, imagine a company where the executive's office has Playboy centerfolds hung up on the walls, but now that a woman is coming to work in their office, they are forced to take them all down to make sure she will feel comfortable working there. (I am not making this up as an example; back in the 80's my dad used to work in an all-male workspace where they had dozens of pictures of naked women all over the walls that had to be taken down once women started working there). If you feel the Playboy example is inappropriate for your class, maybe use pictures of swimsuit models or going out to watch "the game" after work or something.

Well, there is an analogous concept that Warren Farrell came up with that I think is a great way to put men's issues into perspective. He calls it the "glass cellar" (although I wish he would have called it the glass floor, since that makes a little more sense). The way it works is that if the same woman from before decides to stop looking at the glass ceiling and instead look down through the glass floor beneath her, she will see the other occupations that women tend to not be in: the coal miners, construction workers, factory workers, etc. These men are much more likely to die on the job because of how dangerous these jobs are. And what else is very significant is that now that these kinds of jobs are starting to go away, a lot of these same men are hitting a glass ceiling of their own in that many of the new economy's good or robot-proof jobs are traditionally female ones, like nurses and home-care aides, that these men are having trouble adapting to due to worries that they won't appear manly enough (this is mentioned in the article I linked below that details even more issues). As many of these men fail to adapt, they become unemployed, drug-addicted, and even suicidal, which are some other things that women have not been experiencing as much.
