You would be responsible for child support payments. Even in the extreme case where a woman rapes you and becomes pregnant, you would still be liable to pay child support.

Remember that her words bind or set you free. To really do a cost benefit analysis you need to get to the point where you can, with your mind's inner eye, see her naked next to the pile of money you are risking. That pile of money is quite substantial and if you end up thrown in jail for being unable to pay you could be talking an enormous loss of money and a permanent dent in your ability to ever earn as much as you could with a clean record. Quite a lot of those who just unzip and go for it lack that kind of foresight. I really wish there were planned parenthood campaigns directed at men with these kinds of visualizations. In lieu of that I suggest you go look at some pornography and jerk off. Now go without food, any conveniences or fun for a week. Just drink water. Then you'll have a sense of what you could end up with. Just the starvation alone is a fucker and can break a man. If you think the pornography and jerk off session was worth that, then you can do it with confidence.

You would be liable for child support regardless of whatever previous agreements you have made. There is no method to remove this responsibility. It doesn't matter if it's notarized or witnessed or etc... Child support is an obligation from parent to child that cannot be waived by either parent short of adoption. Even if she doesn't pursue you for child support, the state can still pursue you for reimbursement of certain costs.

Sidenote: There is more to be concerned about than child support. Consider that a child is a moral obligation as well. Don't forget what you might want for your children.

Do everything you can on your end to keep her from getting pregnant, as per both of your wishes. If short term, lot of condoms. If long term, possibly a vasectomy.

She buys her pills/IUD/whatever and you'd never think to mess with it? You might not even be able to find where she stores pills if asked? You buy your condoms and make them only your business to the same extent. That's just fair.

You do not currently have any shared assets? You aren't married? You shouldn't have too much else to worry about.

Do you want children or not? Regardless of what she says, this is about you and only you. If you don't then get a vasectomy and make sure you listen to the doctor. You can even bring this up with her if you want to see her reaction. If she's acting in any way unreasonable that is a red flag, if she refuses to listen to reason that is a redder flag.

I'm not an American but from what I hear California is like the worst state to be in when it comes to these matters.

I don't know you, obviously, but I feel like if you're worried about this, something's wrong. Not with you, but with her. Like, is there something "off" about her, or has she alluded to potentially being someone who would do something like prick a hole in your condom to get child support money out of you? Do you like, intuitively have a bad feeling about her? I'm just curious; it takes a major scumbagette to do something like what you've described.
