7:55 rings a little true with me.

Far too often I see masculinity being defined as to how men benefit women. This comes from writers with larger ideas in mind and immature women making overt and trivial statements about men and masculinity (usually "romantic" ideas).

If you think about it most the things that define or or have defined men tended to revolve around women. Whether its doing good for them, pleasing them, or even dominating (not in an evil way) them its men being defined by their relation to women. And if men allow that they will always be allowed to be defined by women. They will have to continuously change themselves or redefine masculinity based on women... Ring a bell?

I think its best to not define ourselves that way, and especially avoid the allure of leading/"dominating" women (game?) because in the end you end up being controlled.

It's kind of funny that feminism is all about defining masculinity in terms of men "dominating" women. Feminism uses the idea that masculinity is defined by men's relation to women. Just imagine the freedom of doing away with the concept that masculinity revolves around women.

Note: that doesn't mean ignore women; it just means not defining masculinity through women.
