Hello everyone, I have been lurking on this subreddit for a while now and was wondering if I could get some advice. I am a 23 year old male who has graduated from college with a bachelors in art education. Having moved from Maryland to Minnesota, it has been difficult getting a teaching job. My dream is to become a secondary education art teacher, however with the changing environment of USA education, I am slowly losing motivation.

I have substitute taught in private and public schools and have seen the way teachers have treated male students. When a middle school humanities teacher does a unit on "Gender Equality" by having students read a male privilege checklist and a college woman's studies article, it really opened my eyes to the craziness of feminist education. It scares me that they are starting so young. I had a conversation with the teacher and told her about my concerns, and she assured me that they were going to focus on privileges of both genders, but I never saw any followup.

I'm currently doing odd jobs around the Twin Cities and am applying for my Maryland Certification to be transferred to Minnesota. My question is, is it worth it. I want to be a good role model for all of my future students, especially males (They need some in a female driven profession). But it seems like a daunting task, especially when not only would I be dealing with gender issues, but also art program cuts. I hate the fact that male middle school students are being told that they are monsters, and should feel guilty for what they cannot control. I'm incredibly frustrated. What do you folks think?
