I have been thinking about this for a while and have read many different opinions about child support. The most common arguement I see is that it is for the child and the child has the right to have support from both parents. The most common arguement I see against child support is that consenting to sex is not consenting to parenthood and therefor a man should not be held responsible for a woman's decision to keep it.

Both are valid arguements. As it stands right now, a man has no reproductive rights. Another thing I hear sarcastically said is a man is allowed to have an abortion just like a woman or he can put the child he births up for adoption. Sorry if this is dragging on but bare with me as I will get to my solution.

As a solution for everyone and be fair and in the best interest of the child I prepose that the parent whose is most financially responsible (i.e. pays the bills, has a stable home, makes more money, can provide better for the child) will become the custodial parent. This goes for one night stands all the way to long time marriages. If the custodial parent does not want the child then the other parent will be granted custody. The non custodial parent will pay child support upon request just like in todays world including the negative reprocussions from not paying however if it is not paid then the child will suffer much less than if missing the larger source on income.

I know it is not the best solution but I feel this will bring down the number of single parent households because people will think twice about trying to entrap other people. This also is the best thing for the child as well as give many men a choice. I dont see any downside to this. It is fair across the board and will cut down on people relying on welfare. Now I know the man is not going to have a choice about being a parent but as far as making things a little more equal this is leaps and bounds ahead of the way the current system operates.
