I’ve been thinking for a while now, ever since the stats on female sexual harassment/assault victims has been so wide spread. I had realised that after it had became so viral the percentage of victims had increased, which to me alludes to victims gaining the confidence or education to realise they are a victim and speak out about it.
The opposite is said of men. For as long as we can remember Male sexual assault victims have been swept under the rug, because Men are seen as sex crazed and are told “you should feel lucky/special” amongst other dismissals. so who’s to say men aren’t being sexually assaulted as much as women are? Women are constantly educated on what is and what’s not sexual assault and consensual sex. I feel the same can’t be said for men and therefore less men will speak out about being a victim of sexual assault.
I am a victim and I felt ashamed to speak about it because I knew that my friends (majority male) will push it aside and almost congratulate me.
it’s disgusting and I believe both men and women should not be separated when being educated on consensual sex. after all, sex involves both parties.
