I don't care that this went viral. But I care about the double standards that a female version is deemed "misogyny"

Good. If people took more time to truly listen to what he has to say, we would have less rioting and temper tantrums and more intelligent, informed discussion.

[–]Lethn 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

What's interesting apparently is that the younger generations now are actually going the total opposite way of the leftists because of all this bullshit. Feminists are completely losing in politics, I just wish a lot of their media outlets would get downsized or shut down as well because they really do post nothing but garbage.

[–]Santaball 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Hmm, I'm not sure. Are feminists losing the battle? Looking at everything it doesn't seem like they are... I dunno, just hard to be optimistic when feminists and fast left people riot with the consent of the mayor

[–]Lethn 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's desperation, they've lost the presidency and congress, so now they're lashing out and they also lost Brexit as well, there were 50 or so MPs ( mostly Labour ) that threw hissy fits and tried to vote against Article 50 and again, another act of desperation and there's this lobbyist called Gina Miller who has been deliberately trying to stall Brexit and cause trouble. She keeps on pretending it's all about the 'democratic process' but that's of course a load of bullshit, we've had the parliamentary vote now and she and her supporters are still trying to create legal challenges against the government to slow or stop everything.

The reason it doesn't seem like we're winning is because these people are exceptionally powerful compared to all of us, but they are being slowly whittled down and because It's Trump and not Clinton when they push the legal limits they are finding themselves being arrested now when they start riots and so on and try to intimidate or harass people.

I hope you're right man. Seriously I hope change is coming.

Don't forget that alongside all these things happening, the MRA is slowly finding its feet and growing more and more. Its still a relatively young movement don't forget. All such groups go through stages before getting listened to fully. They no longer ignore us, and now most people have at least heard of us, where once they wouldn't even recognise the name in any way. The next stage will be when they listen with less bias and hate. Some already do.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think the reality is that most of the women working for such media ARE feminists themselves. Which is why there is such a bias. Most media outlets don't pay most of their staff, and use 'apprenticeships, zero hours contacts' and so on. A sneaky way of saying the pay is terrible. As a result, most decent workers had to leave, work in other areas, or retire early. As a results, most news journalists, media contributors and so on, HAVE to have their own money to afford to work there.

And most of the ones who do, are middle class white women. Women who usually have money handed to them from their parents. In many cases these women have a chip on their shoulder about their dads power and money, and take these jobs to stick it to men to 'punish' their dads. Why? Because many middle class wealthy white fathers were absent when their kids were young because they had to work hard. But its left many bitter man hating women.

Others were brought up by their divorced mothers, whose money again came from daddy. They've had an upbringing of mothers spewing hate about how men are horrible and so on. Now, they think all men are 'bad'.

We've seen ow most feminists are white, middle classed and privileged man haters. We've seen their influence in culture, news and media.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It also accounts for the recent dropping of journalistic standards in all areas, with even headlines spelled incorrectly. They basically just don't pay good enough money to attract basic talent anymore. And its left a vacuum which has been filled with feminism.

[–]aboutblank 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This hypocrite had nothing to do with my beliefs, he's a moneygrubbing detriment to the cause.

[–]ratbacon 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He's a grade A narcissist and I only agree with about half of what he says but I will cheer him on whenever I see him.

It got to the point where it took people like him and Trump, who just give zero fucks because they think they are awesome, to break through the leftist bullshit of the last few decades. Particularly the stranglehold on the media and culture in general.

Hopefully after a year or two of instability everything can settle back down into more centrist policies and genuine attempts for equality across the board.

[–]SEND-YOUR-TITS-HERE 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Equality can't happen because of natural differences. Women are better off having a chill life pregnant and raising kids than working stressed. Men can go to war and die because they are ore expendable than women. They need 2 minutes to breed, women need 9 months.

[–]Rethgil 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What worries me is that mainstream national newspapers like The Guardian and The Independent now routinely refer to modern feminism as being 'The FOURTH Wave', and of course, dismissing all people who arent aware of this as somehow 'inherently sexist'. So if you thought the "Third Wave' lot were bad....

Milo in an interesting sociopath (I'm not that fond of him and his behaviour ticks all the right boxs for the label sociopath), but he is only one person on a spectrum of people who are biting back hard against Cultural Marxism - Institutional Group Think - Feminism and more.

Milo may have his uses but they are not many and are peculiar to straight men!

I'm dealing with guys no in their 50s-60s who have been under the yoke of the Toxic Masculinity blame memes for most of their lives. They have grown up, had kids, kept it all together and now are at a point that they are looking at Grand kids and openly asking What The Fuck Is being Done To These Kids?

Milo has his uses in giving many in the US Education system permission to question the status quo. The ones who were on the ball long before Milo don't need his permission, but they are now able to advance faster due to the grand social backlash that is in progress.

I give Milo 10 years at the most, and by them he will be with some overweight black sugar daddy who can keep him up to his lashes in pearls. Milo is no different to the Whores be bitches about. He just does it in flats and with a little more style and humour. He thinks himself edgy, but oddly lacks the edge to attract Gay men to his pantomime. He's that once in a generation Pouf that Straight Boys can go queer over. It's all very Freddie Mercury and 1970's.

[–]BrSy 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, if anything, Milo has made me a bit more sympathetic towards feminists. He's nothing but an obnoxious troll trying to get a reaction out of people just to turn around and point fingers at them like the massive hypocrite he is. It's just sad to watch.

[–]TheSandmann 19 points20 points21 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I would recommend listening to his talks and not picking up the head lines about him to form an opinion.

He isn't correct on everything he says and doesn't claim to be, the main and only point is that he has every right to speak, to be ignored or to be debated. Not attacked in any way shape or form.

We have come this far, to regress to violence is a waste of time and energy. He is winning because he is calm, rational and well spoken."

Just think of him as a comedian, not everything George Carlin said was correct, PC or other wise, but there was truth in his words.

But since we are here, can you give an example of him being a hypocrite?

Thanks.

[+]buttertarts123 points 9 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

This.

When people call for examples they either ignore the question or stutter something about Leslie Jones.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly. He's been around since before this "alt-right" movement started. His opposers painted him as some misogynist, racist, troll because of what he's said in debates and speeches. I don't agree with him on everything but I don't think he's a misogynist or racist. He did take the troll label and roll with it to show his opposition those tactics were not going to work. He posts his speeches on his YouTube channel. Don't just read headlines go watch a few of those videos before forming your opinion on the guy.

[–]kintu -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He makes a few valid points. then the success got to his head and his interviews started to get worse. he even publicly bullied and harassed people in his talks. I think he just became a political hack since he was recruited by Trump.

[–]Chipdogs 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree but it's not like feminists don't do the same thing. Milo is just the Conservative equivalent of Anita Sarkeesian or Clementine Ford.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Attempting to silence critics would make him a hypocrite. He doesn't do that. On the surface he is an attention seeker and potential annoyance due to his tendency to troll. But after hearing him speak for a few hours, you realize he's completely benign.

I'm the author of the article btw. Sure it's an incomplete fluff piece but there are many things I strongly disagree with, in regards to Milo. It's just that they aren't relevant to his ultimate message, i.e he promotes free speech and open debate in sectors of society that are meant to challenge ideas and incite debate (but for some reason choose to safe space young minds). He's been consistent thus far and I applaud him for undertaking such a daring endeavor. Even if it's to garner personal fame, the knock-on effect is beneficial. He brings light to some dire issues plaguing American Campuses and tertiary institutions across the west in general.
