Violence has three purposes: domination, elimination, and persuasion.

Domination and elimination are universal.

Violence is used for persuasion when the user feels that persuasion based on pleading, bargaining, or threatening will not work.

Those who are less likely to receive aid when asking for it are more likely to use violence.

Those who have no one to ask for aid are more likely to use violence.

Those who are forbidden to ask for aid are more likely to use violence.

Those who have nothing to bargain with are more likely to use violence.

Those who are not respected are more likely to use violence.
