the language of title IX is that colleges that receive federal funding can't discriminate based on sex. that's it.

Yet you have the Education Department's Office of Civil Rights "interpreting" that language to suit an obvious political agenda, that is anti-male. As the article states, why is the OCR focused on equalizing male dominated campus activities (athletics, engineering, mathematics), but not concerned at all for having equal numbers of men in women dominated activities (theater, newspaper, academic clubs).

is it ironic to point out that OCR is interpreting Title IX in a manner that discriminates against men, thereby violating Title IX?

It is unlikely, but I hope whoever is next elected President will appoint someone to the OCR chair who realizes what's going on and puts a stop to it. I'll also add that it's ludicrous in a democracy that an administrative agency is free to "interpret" a law however they feel like, in ways the drafters wouldn't have dreamed of when they were written 2 generations ago.

People from outside of the USA look at Title IX and the OCR in utter bewilderment; as concepts laudable, as realities a horror show.

I find this outrage incredibly disingenuous.

Title IX didn't have "unexpected consequences", it did exactly what it was intended to: it provided a hammer with which to smash groups who the administrators designated as undesirable.

If it wasn't intended to be used this way, they would have stopped using it this way.

Complaining about this is like saying that the new sex assault rules in colleges have unfortunately caused a large number of men to be targeted and abused. Well of course it fucking did, that's what it's for, for god's sake.
