Hi all, just thinking out loud about toxic masculinity because I’ve always had a problem with it.
Now first off, I don’t deny that it exists, in some circles it does, but feminists use it as a buzzword to explain away real issues that face men and pretend that it’s just the patriarchal privilege that’s hurting us.
Suicide rates, toxic masculinity. Not coming out about domestic violence, toxic masculinity. Depression, toxic masculinity.
However, I don’t think it’s this that shuts men up, because if they try and explain their issue then (some) women will talk some shit like emotional baggage or propagate toxic masculinity (all imo, don’t get offended).
I believe that it’s not the men or the toxic masculinity that keeps them quiet, but the fear of how the women in their lives will see them from then.
Anyway, what do you think?
