Its simple

Red pill = uncomfortable truth

Blue pill = comforting lies or blissful ignorance

Purple pill = something in between red and blue. Such as a half truth or partial truth that may be more easy to accept than the whole truth.

Black pill = Seeing problems, but also believing that there's no way to fix these problems and giving up all hope.

There isn't just one interpretation of MGTOW. MGTOW, meaning "men going their own way", is a philosophy of life that is derived directly from the findings of the Red Pill. It is not a movement, for it is entirely up to you to draw the right lessons. It means a man should go his way and not be driven by the needs of others. In order to help others, he must first ensure that he is able to take care of himself. Anyone who says what you have to do in the name of MGTOW has not understood the philosophy.

Red Pill Rage is the name of the phase in which a man struggles with his old beliefs. The aim is to look for the mental origin of your motivation in you. It needs an environment where men are understood and accepted with care, where life on the Red Pill is explained to them. During this phase, men behave unhealthy and not in accordance with MGTOW.

Most men only start getting involved with Red Pill after they have been abused. One cannot expect a person who has been taken advantage of to throw themselves blindly into the next adventure. When you are negative it is called Black Pilled.

Tiers of MGTOW

1st Tier - Purple Pill Man

The Purple Pill is for men who have become aware of the Red Pill but have decided to mix the inconvenient truths with their earlier hopes.

It's the view that knowing the red pill is something you can deal with, or at least live with the risk of, if it doesn't just go away.

2nd Tier - enemy image of feminists

No marriage

No children

No pulling together

3rd Tier - protection against false accusations

Due to the omnipotence and sovereignty of interpretation in public space, dealing with women is reduced to a necessary minimum.

They maintain polite contact with women, but avoid private contacts.

still have sex

In professional life, the door to the office is open and the elevator is deserted when a woman comes in.

4th Tier - MGTOW Monk (Hermit)

The aim is to remain invisible to women.

They are convinced that there is no equality in contact between men and women.

They deny that men must always court women, which makes them vulnerable.

None of these men hate women.

Here my unpopular interpretation.

Black pill is reality.

Red pill is black pill + self improvement can upsize it.

Purple pill is red + blue. Purple pill is pretending to be red pill, but still worshipping women and feminism and the status quo. It’s the standard fence sitting “I’m a moderate” virtue signaling position.

Some black pilled people believe you cannot change certain genetic aspects. Which is technically true. Some you can change to an extent with cosmetic procedures. Some swing more red pill, some swing more doomer depressive and angry.

Red pill is believing you can change things by going to the gym, wearing stylish clothes, etc. to gain a point or two of attractiveness. And they focus on “game” which is just “can I socialize correctly with lots of rizz”.

Most red pill assumes you’re already genetically perfect but lack clothing choices and charisma. Focus on learning game and making lots of money.

These terms are hard to define because multiple Internet communities utilize them, e.g. alt-right communities used to use the term "redpill" to describe political awakening to more conservative ideas.

Even within the manosphere, "redpill" was used by Men's Rights Guys and dating redpillers in different ways.

The mainstream also interprets "redpill" through their own biased perspective, often defining and centering it along the lines of "opposition to feminism / anti-feminism and the belief men are oppressed in society" or "manipulating women into having sex" and branding it as extremism.

To me, the terms are place-holder terms for specific systems of thinking about dating and relationships, often internet originated ideologies.

Bluepill = any views about dating stemming from mainstream society, often portrayed as idealistic, fantastical or emotionally charged, e.g. "just be yourself, personality is the most important thing, 'true love', soulmates, just be a good / nice person and you'll have success, women don't care about looks of money, beauty is on the inside, beauty is subjective, there's someone out there for everyone etc".

Redpill is supposed to be the antidote to the bluepill, showing guys "the truth" about human dating and relationships. Redpill content and theorists are actually drawing a lot from Evolutionary Psychology, which is an academic discipline along with some of their own ideas. It's really a mix of evopsych + their own ideas about masculinity and human relationships (e.g. the idea people can be categorised into alphas and betas, that behaviour/game is important in attracting women, etc). E.g. one notorious redpill idea is Alpha fucks beta bucks, alpha men are high in SMV and can pursue short term mating while betas are low in SMV and need resources to attract a mate. The red pill is complex and there's more ideas to it but to simplify it, I've said all this.

Now the infamous "blackpill". The blackpill is actually close to the redpill in ideology but the large difference is the blackpill stresses that the factors that determine dating and relationship success and outcomes the most, are the factors outside of your control. Looks are everything in dating but looks are mostly determined by genes. There's always gonna be hot tall guys who are gonna clean up and it doesn't matter how smart, charismatic, professionally and financially successful, jacked, etc you are, those guys are gonna beat you, whether thats being able to fuck more women, or being able to get a hotter woman , whatever it is, those guys are gonna get the best of the best and there's not much you can do, alongside that there are men who are so low in mate value they will never reproduce or be attractive to women. The blackpill is also deemed as nihlistic, fatalistic and downright dangerous.

The pills are often associated with Incls but it technically isn't true that only Incls adhere to beliefs of the pills.

Blue pill: The Disney version where if you are a good person and do the right thing, get an education, get a job, buy a house, drive the fancy car, wear the right watch,.. you will eventually find your perfect match and live happily ever after.

Red Pill theory: It views the dynamics between men and women through the lens of a sexual marketplace where each party is trying to get the best deal based on what they have to offer. It's also inherently immoral meaning it doesn't really care too much if a given strategy is good or bad, but if it is effective or not. It's up to person employing said strategy to decide if they should or not.

Red pill theory deals with probabilities and as such is great at explaining past relationship failures. It's also this part that is for many the eye-opening moment when they realize that the blue pill promise was a big lie and that they've wasted a lot of good opportunities in pursuit of it.

That said, because it deals in probabilities, it's not a great predictor of the future unless it's used in specific situations like pick-up where probabilities work in your favor. In a relationship for example, probabilities are useless when you're dealing with a sample size of 1. In such situations, you're basically just flipping a coin each time. It's erratic gambling that is more likely than not going to lead to heart ache.

Red Pill practical: This focuses more on mindset and requires changing your belief system and how you make life decisions. You're basically not just throwing out the blue pill world view, but also red pill theory, and instead, by making decisions on principle and situational awareness, you're more likely to make the most optimal choice for yourself. It's a very nuanced approach which makes it not only difficult to master, but also very hard to teach. At the end of the day, it's about being confident, taking control of your life and knowing where you want to go. Weirdly enough, that also what women find attractive in a man.

Purple pill: Those who have been burnt by red pill or aren't able to commit to it fully end up in the pursuit of trying to achieve blue pill outcomes with red pill knowledge. The two world views are inherently incompatible.

Red Meat: This is probably what most people on social media are exposed to. It's red pill dumbed down or twisted to make it appealing to attracting followers or as a grift. It is the promise of guaranteed success without having to put any work into anything. Like, "Say this one thing to get any woman to fall for you."
Anyone following red meat advice is sooner than later going to get themselves burnt, increasing their odds of becoming purple pill, or black pill.

Black Pill: It's like working at McDonalds and realizing you'll never own 10 Lamborghinis let alone one as that is your metric for success. You don't even bother trying to improve your life situation. It's the lack of confidence and inability to take control of any aspect of your life.

I’ll add that when it comes to male-female relationships, the red pill was at first about acknowledging what really causes attraction as opposed to the timeless cliches. More recently however, self proclaimed red pillers have started forming opinions about what relationships should look like or how women should be valued which is a distinct move away from the more traditional definition of red pill.

BP is easy to explain it’s a reaction to the evolutionary psychology that explains women’s sexual selection. Men who believe they don’t fit into the categories of men that could attract a woman call themselves BP and give up on women. MGTOW’s are often mistaken as BP but usually they are opting out because they don’t see pursuing relationships or women in general worth it, not because they can’t attract anyone whereas BP don’t believe they ever had a chance.

RP is more complicated because it has come to mean different things over time. As a comparison to what your asking RP is where BP came from as a lot of RP ideas are in BP, but there are some heads part of RP development that will say BP don’t fully understand these ideas or are reacting to the information in a way that isn’t helpful. These ideas come from information compiled about interactions with women through social experiments that PUA’s did over the decades and evolutionary psychology around women’s sexual selection. It was intended as a way to help men better understand women so they can have better relationships with them. It’s become more well known in last few years because of people like Tate, who people often mistake the things he says as RP because that’s what he was claiming to be at one time. Saying things such as it’s okay for men to cheat on women, but not the other way around is not something RP says it’s something Tate off his own back put out there and newer creators followed suit. There are other people who call themselves RP and prescribe what the RP does not. There are figures who developed the RP who say it is/was not intended as an ideology, but a compilation of information and is up to the person how to use it.

As for PP it’s some combination of RP and BluP, I don’t know what that would necessarily look like. BluP is what society tells men about be nice, be yourself, do the right thing, and one day the right girl will choose you and if not then you must not be nice enough.

What is common is men tend to find these ideas after years of experiencing abuse from women or/and seeing other men having those experiences and they start to think what they have been told about how men should be and women are might not be true.

The red and blue pill comes from the matrix movie, where he's offered the blue pill which would let him remain ignorant and the red pill which takes him into the world and sees things for how they really are.

Blue Pill: status quo, usually in an ignorant (willful or not) state

Red Pill: seeing things for what they really are and trying to work within it to change things

Purple Pill: not going into the Red Pill all the way and believing a mix of both pills.

Black Pill: seeing the same things the Red Pill sees but deciding it is hopeless and impossible to change. They LDAR (lie down and rot).

So for dating, it's

Blue Pill: pretty much any dating advice a woman gives you

Red Pill: men must chase and be aggressive, lots of pickup artistry. Looksmaxx, moneymaxx, douchebagmaxx, etc.

Purple Pill: a bit of the "improooving" from the Red Pill but still subservient to women

Black Pill: seeing all the nonsense that the redpillers and purplepillers have to do to get a chance at even a below average woman, and deciding that it's over
