This post might be stating the obvious, but I'll continue. A man in my town was recently released, partly due to a clerical error where the DA missed a form, from prison. He was convicted of many serious rapes over 40 years, both of underage and of age men and women, and has been diagnosed with a sexual disorder. Like most men here, that kind of person absolutely disgusts me. I was thinking, "Well I don't know the details, maybe he served his time and is rehabilitated, and at least the sex offender list will keep the police in track of him." I realised later that the sex offender list isn't that effective anymore. It's been so diluted with all the convicted men who have been charged with dumb "indecent exposure" or "having sex with their girlfriend while drunk" counts. Also, maybe the reason this case wasn't properly handled by the DA is that it wasn't given enough attention next to all the other "sex" crimes.

When everybody's a possible rapist, like some groups say, we can't stop the repeat offenders and obvious criminals. When everyone's on the sex offender list, noone is. Police and city lawyers have limited resources. We all want the same thing in the end, justice, and only by using logic and clearly defined laws on what is a sexual crime and what is an awkward situation can we attain justice.
