This is a questions specifically towards the men. Of course you could ask a woman the same question, but the overall dating dynamic between the sexes makes a difference here. Generally men approach women. And by approach I mean explicitly and directly making your romantic/sexual interest clear and making deliberate moves to advance your relationship in that regard in the initial stages. I am not counting signals and I‘m not talking about scenarios where the two have known each other for a long time already. I am aware that there are exceptions where a woman might cold approach men, ask for a phone number or invite a guy on a date. Overall women are the ones being approached and pursued, while men approach and pursue. For men it‘s less common, sometimes it doesn‘t happen at all, that a woman cold approaches them and makes their interest clear, as opposed to only giving signals of interest.

So back to my initial question. Are these types of relationships the only worthwhile ones for men? Even if the girl approaching generally happens to be lower value relative to the man and even if those instances are rare? Should men for long term relationships opt for a dating strategy where they maximize their attractiveness to be approached, while only engaging in pursuing women when it comes to hookups, since those theoretically make less successful long term relationships from a male perspective?
