Yes, the post is about redpill/bluepill issues. I didn't get lost ;)

So, a brief timeline:

October 2008 - Fallout 3 is released
October 2010 - Fallout 3 New Vegas is released
December 2012 - Fallout 4 is prioritized for development by Bethesda
March 2013 - Anita Sarkeesian's Tropes vs. Women YouTube series becomes popular
August 2014 - GamerGate explodes; Sarkeesian becomes deeply controversial
November 2015 - Fallout 4 is released

In Fallout 3 and Fallout 3: New Vegas, a small but significant theme is sexual abuse in a post-apocalyptic world. It is commonly discussed that Raiders (as well as Caesar's Legion) will take over a settlement, kill the men, and rape the women. One of the first characters you meet is Nova, a prostitute being held in sexual slavery by her pimp. In New Vegas, the casinos keep stables of prostitutes - a few male, one robotic, but mostly women. There's a quest centered around the rape of a lesbian NCR soldier in Camp McCarran by a raider. A companion, Jericho, is known to have attempted to rape Jenny Stahl. In general, it's just understood that rape would be one of the horrors of a post-apocalyptic world, along with slavery, cannibalism, murder... everything that happens when might makes right and there's nobody to say no.

In Fallout 4... there's no rape. Cait makes one single ambiguous reference to slavers who "used [her] for their amusement" (which could just as easily be interpreted to mean the same kind of prizefighting Tommy made her do) - but other than that, it's understood that raiders just kill people to steal their food. There isn't a single prostitute in the game or any mention of sex that isn't fully, enthusiastically consensual. Indeed, not only is there no sexual violence in the world, but sexual orientations are apparently gone too - every romanceable companion is bisexual.

The timeline can't be a coincidence - Sarkeesian spoke and Bethesda listened.

So the question is: how do you feel about this? Like a video game franchise is being ruined because we're not allowed to have gritty realism in games anymore, or like the game's fun enough when you just focus on shooting bad guys and building settlements, and there's no need for socially irresponsible messages?
