4-5 years ago or so I did way better on Tinder and had way more girls fawn over my appearance.
If anything in that span, I've become better looking, more traveled, and more interesting.
In addition, I feel like women in general have gotten a lot more stand-offish in the past 3 or so years. Basically since COVID.
Even though I'm fairly certain I can make things happen, (and yes I've been dating someone for over two years now and I've drawn legit interest from numerous other women) my personally interest is generally super low because I feel so repulsed by what's out there....
All these boring people with boring interests and boring thoughts who usually aren't half as good looking and interesting as they think they are with annoying personalities and annoying political/social views. (yes I'm over using the word annoying and the list is too long)
I'm getting back into a hobby that I'm passionate about that has some social components, one I've forsaken to do more pragmatic things, but I imagine going forward I'll meet a lot more women actively doing that than I am right now, but, overall, I just feel pretty jaded.
It feels like dating apps combined with expensive night venues have really gutted the social circle aspect of meeting people and it's just depressing now, a race to get a girl in bed with little to no prior context. And it feels like ideas of romance having given way to something generally more machiavellian.
I have ample female friends, the vast majority of which have never friend zoned me, (like one did, but I'm gradually reversing power positions with her, not intentionally, I enjoy talking with her in ways...but I digress....) And I just see all the doomed relationships they ardently pursue and I see the doomed relationship with me the girl I'm dating is arently pursuing.
IDK man. It's hard to care and it's depressing. I feel as a clearly above average guy (albeit not financially, but I make good investments and I'm savvy with what I earn) that it's just too much work in most developed Western countries. Almost everyone is socially atomized and it's hard to do much organically. You don't date in the workplace anymore, and there's just so many bitch shields and girl boss personas to break through.
Like I'm sorry I'm not the 6ft plus version of myself (5'10) with a way higher income - And I get the feeling that even if I was that guy I'd be still catching a fair bit of attitude (although honestly that would possibly be enough to nudge me over the top)
It just feels like a bleak materialistic and superficial atomized hellscape where you're competing with a bazillion random dudes not looking for a real relationship and then you have to contend with all the trauma or whatever from all those "situation ships" No one ever learns. The media bad mouths men and stokes division and the capacity to build connection just seems to be really damaged.
I don't even know how I'd meet the sort of person I would really want to be with now. I highly doubt Id find them with any ease in the US, Canada or the UK though.
