Many of us have experienced "glow ups" as a result of self-improvement. I lost a lot of weight, and as a result get treated significantly better by just about everyone. It doesn't change the fact that the men who do particularly well with women fall into a narrow archetype, and the rest are expected to put on a song and dance for crusts and crumbs.

I'm in top 5% physique and top 10% income for my area. My prospects are not significantly better than when I was younger and dirt poor and only kind of buff.

Getting a quality woman is almost entirely social connections (popularity/status) and how your face looks.

Self improvement is important but for the most part it won't help you much with women, unless that whatever "self improvement" you did happened to give you a lot of status.
